Insulating Loft which product to use?

Hi there

Have a 4 bed semi detached house (stone construction approx 100 years old). About to put a loft room in, no insulation at present. Can anyone recommend which insulation is the best to go for and build reg requirements? I have been told by our local planning dept I dont need to get a building warrant as the loft already has walls, floor and stair case. Want to be energy efficient as much as possible (am in scotland so it can get pretty cold) but am working to a budget also.

Thanks

B&Q i know has 2 for 1 on loft insulation although I suspect other places also have similar things running. If your doing it your self i personal recommend the recycled plastic stuff as it easyest to handel but the glass wool stuff isnt as bad as used to be.
