What exactly are you referring to here ('code list')?

The model relating to that code I.e. GL, Si, CD, etc etc. Hope you understand what I've put now.

Now I do understand but I do not agree.

The ABI vehicle grouping for any particular make and model of a vehicle does not 'allow for the factory options'. They are only based upon the basic model 'as is'. Hence why quite a few insurers do ask for details of optional extras and aftermarket modifications.

The OP's policy asks for modifications, not OE gear.

But you stated the following "If the wheels and paint were optional extras from the factory, then no you don't have to tell them if you supplied the proper model code for that vehicle. It should have been covered from their code list which allows for the factory options. They're just pulling a fast one"

Which could potentially be very bad advice if they had been with Direct Line or Admiral or any other company that asks a similar question. You also have to remember other people will read the threads and may have acted on your statement and not declared an optional extra and could potentially have their policy declared void

But that's down to the policy holder reading their paperwork properly. The OP's question doesn't mention this. I think you're getting the OP's question mixed up with general people.

I think the point is that as you did not quote the OP in your reply or make it clear that your post was directed toward them, it reads like general advice.

That I appreciate what you say but the OP doesn't state his/her policy asks for OE gear.

No, no, no! I'm not giving general advise! Everything I've been stating has been pointed towards the OP!

It does not read like that, it read like general advice which is why you have a number of people pointing this out

I'm not talking specifically about the OP here and neither were you on that particular point, i.e. when you said

The group rating system does not take optional extras into account.
