Some really really old basic accounts do have cheque books with them.

But with a new account, you can only get a cheque book with the full current account.

Secondly, what if I wish to withdraw £2k - can the machine do that? Not what i'd class as 'any' withdrawal - more like restricted withdrawal..... :rotfl:

You use the counter to withdraw your £2000. Just the same as any other account holder who wanted more than £300
Some people want easy access to their money but don't need an overdraft* or a full branch service. If that sounds like you and you're over 16, the Easycash account could suit you down to the ground.

    You won't be able to:
    • earn interest when your account is in credit
    • have an overdraft or chequebook
    • use a branch counter to pay in money, withdraw less than £300 or make a routine enquiry.

Is this the same across all banks or just HBOS?

You missed the evident sarcasm in my post (and you quoted my own quote lol) :rotfl:

it just makes it all confusion for some people.. All I want is to use standing orders, get wages paid in and use the card at any machine, of course having a debit card facility also.

From what I can see barclays has been mentioned its just a shame there isnt a local one nearby. Applying online is near impossible as I obviously dont pass certain credit scores (whatever they are).

All I can suggest is maybe someone help me prepare a letter to lloyds and see how it goes from then on, if it fails, then we can try another route.

    Thanky

The Barclays basic account (Cash Card Account) can be applied in branch/post only. The current accounts (Barclays Bank Account, Current Plus, Additions Active, etc... - those are names of the bank accounts they offer)can be applied online, as well as branch.

Since you don't have a local Barclays branch nearby, your best bet is either RBS/Natwest or Co-op. Try RBS/Natwest first though. These banks offer a debit card with their accounts as mentioned in the link posted above in this thread.

No, I do have a HBOS basic account, as I said I've had it for years, long before they had Easycash accounts. Mine is the old Cardcash account, I think they scrapped them for new adult applicants a few years ago and only 16-17 year olds can get them now.
