card cash account to current account

I am looking for someone to help me write a letter to my bank.
You see I opened an account and I just got the basic card cash account. This just isnt useful enough for me as I cant use my card at all ATM machines like I was on a previous account.
What would I have to ask and provide for them to change my account to a current account.
Thanks in advance.

If they only gave you a basic account, then I doubt you're going to be able to upgrade to a full current account already.
You could open a basic account at another bank, they all do them, e.g. Halifax Expresscash, Barclays Cash Card account. These will give you a Visa Electron or restricted Visa Debit card, and can be used in any ATM.0 -
its with Lloyds this basic account I have, and I cant use it at any other machine apart from one holding their logo, and where I live, thats one machine, which isnt convenient when I am out and about.Only Linux make is possible!0

I suggest you close that account, or keep that account as back-up. You could try upgrading, but it depends on your credit history/score.
Other basic accounts don't have a restriction about using the bank's cash machines only. Here's a list of them: http://www.moneymadeclear.fsa.gov.uk/pdfs/bank_accounts.pdf
I recommend Barclays and RBS/Natwest basic account out of that website. Both accounts have a debit card. I would avoid HBOS, as it provides limited branch service.
Barclays only need one piece of ID (passport or driving licence), and account details provided on the same day. Very efficient service.0 -

No, HBOS provides limited counter service. They have machines in their branches that do any deposit or withdrawal. If you need something else, then you can use the counter for that.0 -

I assume with your pro-Halifax posts you either work for them or get wet by the sound of their name, either way you're way off the mark. HBOS (in particular) easycash/basic customers get virtually no counter service in branch. To top it off, why go all the way in town to a branch to use a ruddy machine?
Secondly, what if I wish to withdraw £2k - can the machine do that? Not what i'd class as 'any' withdrawal - more like restricted withdrawal..... :rotfl:They have machines in their branches that do any deposit or withdrawal2010 - year of the troll

Edit Taken from HBOS site: http://www.halifax.co.uk/bankaccounts/easycash.aspAn important note...
Immediate Deposit Machines are available in selected branches only.
Not all branches eh?
Also quoted from site:Some people want easy access to their money but don't need an overdraft* or a full branch service. If that sounds like you and you're over 16, the Easycash account could suit you down to the ground.
You won't be able to:- earn interest when your account is in credit
- have an overdraft or chequebook
- use a branch counter to pay in money, withdraw less than £300 or make a routine enquiry.

it just makes it all confusion for some people.. All I want is to use standing orders, get wages paid in and use the card at any machine, of course having a debit card facility also.
From what I can see barclays has been mentioned its just a shame there isnt a local one nearby. Applying online is near impossible as I obviously dont pass certain credit scores (whatever they are).
All I can suggest is maybe someone help me prepare a letter to lloyds and see how it goes from then on, if it fails, then we can try another route.

I've got a Halifax basic account and have no problems at all. I've got a debit card, standing orders, direct debits, get my wage paid in etc. If I want to withdraw money I get it from any cash machine, if I want to withdraw a large sum I can do that over the counter. If I need to make an enquiry I either use online banking or ring them up.
I've had my account with them for years so I've even got a cheque book too.Dum Spiro Spero0 -
