Hi there can anyone please advise, I have a 3 network 6500 slide which I got Last Sept/Oct which I am now using on my other (daughter uses) 3 contract and its died and wont switch on after trying diff charger, taking battery out etc. Does anyone know if the phone warrenty will be longer than 12 months? Also the contract taken with the phone was cancelled 6 months ago would that have any affect on the warrenty?

The warranty won't be affected by you cancelling the contract.

Nokias generally have 24 months warranty (assuming it was new when you got it - refurbished ones might have different warranty arrangements).

Thank you. Yes it was new when I got it so hopefully it will be fixable. Is it best to go back to 3 or find a nokia repair center and contact them direct?

You can do either, but as you are no longer a 3 customer, maybe going direct to Nokia will be more straightforward.

Details of how to get repairs under warranty done direct by Nokia:

    These phones are inherently faulty.
    I had one which:
    1. When switched on, looked like the LCD had cracked.
    2. Stopped turning on at all

If you phone 3, they will replace this handset with a different one if you tell them you know of the inherent fault (use the LCD one).

Once they replace it, send it to Nokia for repair.

The fact you are no longer in contract will be a sticking point with 3 and they will do nothing though.

Thank you both:T three are unhelpfull with an easy one so this would be brain numbing trying to get them to sort it, I have called Carphone Warehouse and they have a repair center 20 mins from me so ive to take proof of purchase to thier center and they will hopefully fix it for me as they did state nokias have a 2 year warranty.;)

Is there somewhere on the phone I can look for water damage before it goes in as ive heard a lot of repairs get the water damage reply.

3 to cpw sounds a bit frying pan to fire (do a search for cpw repair problems).

If there is no nokia repair centre nearby, you can send repairs into them freepost:

Oh I hadnt picked up on the CPW being the problem but i knew a lot of phones were being returned classed as water damage, im glad I waited on a reply as i was 2 mins from setting off. And a call to 3 confirmed they wont help at all as the original contract was cancelled. So looks like i will be sending it straight to Nokia.

Great advice as usual;) Thank you.
