BT Cable snapped by tree

I'm not sure if I'm placing this in the correct place but would welcome any advice. We live in a rural area and a tree in our garden has just been blown down across the river in these storms (the river undermined the tree roots) and has taken a BT cable down with it and snapped it off the pole . The cable crosses our garden and as far as we are aware there is not a wayleave on the deeds and the cable was there before we moved in. The river is in flood but has not broken its banks but could do this afternoon as a result of the tree now lying across the river.:(
I know this is a bit long winded but my question is this - would we be responsible for reimbursing BT for the repairs to reinstate the cable? If so presumably our insurance would cover it (I'll have to read the small print I suppose!).
I would welcome any advice.

Call BT and ask?0

IIRC the cable is BT's responsibility and breakages such as that are considered fairly normal as it's a risk that is always present with overhead wiring (all it takes is a branch hitting it to break the cable).0

Phone BT tell them their cable snapped during the storm and knocked your tree over. Demand they replace your tree or pay costs."We act as though comfort and luxury are the chief requirements of life, when all that we need to make us happy is something to be enthusiastic about” – Albert Einstein0

Any damage outside you house BT will repair for free, as soon as they need to do any work inside your propety then depending on what the work is you could have to pay.
So the "fault" is outside your propety so you shouldn`t have to pay.0
