Registering as self employed - is it too late

That seems to suggest that redacted statements are fine.0

Well, good luck with that!
Given that you could avoid all the hassle by just being honest with them, I'm not sure why you'd want to run the risk.
BTW, I've often phoned HMRC and not had to give my details before being able to ask an 'in principle' question. So why not phone the self-employment line and ask whether they are likely to impose the fine for late registration on someone who started self-employment 4 months ago, and has had a turnover of £X in that time. If X is a very large figure they might well do so, on the grounds that someone capable of that sort of turnover really ought to know better. But if you've had a very large turnover in your first few months, it's even more important to be straight with them!Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
dulcificum,
You've now had a fair few people suggest that maybe HMRC aren't the best people to get on the wrong side of. It's your choice as to whether you accept the advice, of course.Debbie0 -
Apparently they come on mse aswell oops0

Luckily they can't check IPs. I thought my fundamental right to privacy precluded me from the obligation to providing personal bank statements.0

Your fundamental right to privacy may be at odds with HMRC's fundamental right to ask you to account for all your income, to ensure that you haven't paid too much tax on it.Signature removed for peace of mind0
