Hi
Can anyone help?
Has anyone ever received a letter from a company called 'UK Drainage Network' and threatened them with going to their local authority if they did not provide certain information?
I work in a Local Authority and was given this letter by a colleague to ascertain whether it was legitimate.
If anyone has had a similar letter etc could you contact me with brief details?
In essence, Drainage is a private issue and a local authority would only get nvolved (as far as I know) if it constituted a potential health hazard and the residents at large would not clear the blockage. I am also under the belief that LA's are the only ones who can request information for this particular activity under the Local Governments (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act. They should NOT be holding data about yourselves and it may be worth contacting trading standards and possibly the Information Commissioner.
So...yeah... anyone that can respond with something similar OR can say I'm wrong, please reply.
Cheers

By the sounds of it uk Drainage is a company who might come out and unblock drain so if the person who recieved the letter is on the same main they might be wanted to split the cost of the work. I think that a local authority can be contacted if the blocked if further down the line and the person doesn't do anything about it.
I would advise asking more information in regards to what they want the details for as i wouldn't advise giving them out with out any more information on it as that sounds a bit suspicious and if they do contact the council then that isn't a problem as at least you know they are real0
