How much does 100 miles cost?

Hi all, I'm thinking whether I should get a newer car or stick my LPG, which I believe is real good valve. I read a post somewhere that the best way to work out your cars mpg was to fill you tank up, drive 100 miles then see how much it costs to refill.

Right I did it and my 1.6 Astra Estate LPG cost £10.51 to refill.

I can't see a lot of people driving 100 miles just to see what it costs!

But my Astra 1.4 says it's doing 40MPG (2009 Model) I get about 400 miles from a tank and it costs £45 to fill up.

Fill it up, drive untilk its just about empty and then fill it back up and do the sums. Will get a more accurate figure over 300-500 miles rather than 100.

Do as Harvey suggests or do it over a couple of thousand miles.

My 1.4 Fiesta Hatchback LPG would cost £7 to drive 100 miles (or if I really wanted to drive on petrol it would be £10)

My 1.9d Citroen costs £10.90 per hundred miles calculated over 20,000 miles. But that is assuming diesel always cost todays price.

My 1.6 Astra Sporthatch LPG will do 100 miles for £6.50. I do this everyday to get to work and back.

How much is your LPG per litre? I am 51.7p a litre at the moment. - 35mpg

Petrol would be £11 for 100 miles now with the latest rises - 44 mpg

About £12 for the Yaris in town driving (40 mpg)

(100 miles / 40 mpg x 4.55 to litres x 1.089 pence per litre)

Why not just measure how many miles you do between filling up and how much it costs to fill?
