No, it means it IS working. Not working at all means there is no picture (When clearly there is)
Something WORKING doesnt mean its working well. Something NOT working means its not doing anything
THATS what ive been trying to say all along. When cables start to reach their digital 'cliff edge' then they will begin to produce actual physical errors ON SCREEN 'before' they completely fail all together
This means starting with almost imperceptable changes in 'some' pixel colors, through to smearing, sparklies, snow, flickering/loss of parts of the picture then complete black (failed):idea:0 -

I figured that.
But, so far as I'm concerned, it confirmed the wisdom of :A aliEnRIK :A's advice to me that it was worth buying good cables.
And if ever I come acreoss the little bu66er who sold me that Belkin cable anywhere near a cliff-edge, I know just what/whom will be going over it.
Don't laugh at banana republics. :rotfl:
As a result of how you voted in the last three General Elections,
you'd now be better off living in one.

Sounds to me like its not a 'genuine' belkin:idea:0 -
Might find another use for it. Clearly marked, it could be used to hang wet towels over the bath in hotel rooms, when travelling.

In that case I don't disagree although I'd class sparklies as past the point I'd consider it to be a fail.THATS what ive been trying to say all along. Regardless kwik, the point im making is its not a simple 'work' or 'not work'. There ARE inbetween states (starting with almost impercetable errors, before the errors really 'ramp up' and the sparklies etc begin):idea:0

Yes point taken. What I really don't know is how far there is between working perfectly and getting really obvious problems such as sparklies.
One (off topic) thing I will ask you though is if my media player is set to 1080p output (which it is) is the bandwidth requirement for the cable lower if playing 720p or even SD - now I don't think it is as every one of those 1920x1080 pixels gets transmitted down the cable regardless of the original source.
I'm not properly set up for HD yet - I'm having a house refurbished and have bought some kit in advance but it isn't set up properly at home - the TV isn't in full use - it is sitting on the floor so I've not spent a huge time watching it but when I have I haven't seen a hint of problems even though I'm using cheap 4m cables.0 -
So has anyone ever noticed sparklies with cheap cables?0
