My mother wants to find her daughter she gave up for adoption. Please help.

If you ever find her surname, I'd be happy to rummage around in the Family Records Centre in London to help track her down if needed. The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. An ant can carry one hundred times its own weight, but there is no known limit to the lifting power of the average tiny eighty-year-old Spanish peasant grandmother.0

check out the forum on afteradoption.org.uk loads of other people in the same boat, with lots of good genuine advice from those who have searched.0

Good luck ~ I was adopted and traced my parents and we are very close now, all of us! Although it does get expensive at Christmas! Once I had the names I found my fathers family and we then traced my Mum through the Marriage records and phone books in the library. A long slow process but it worked.
There are issues with the parent tracing the child though as my Mum tried to trace me about 10 years ago and couldn't get anything.

I'm sure if the daughter was explained the circumstances by a 3rd party (a counsellor) then she would understand why it was such a shock for your mum when she turned up at the door. I really hope it works out for her in the end.0

The law has changed on parents tracing children. Natural parents can trace their children via an intermediatry (sorry spelt that wrong probably) ie social services or another agency, dosen't have to be goverment ran, can be a voluntary organization.
However, noone is going to stop natural parents tracing their children anyway. I mean the children will be adults by the time they turn 18.0 -

Hi all. Thanks for all the advice.
Crutches, ive sent you a pm :T
Ive entered my name onto the general register office -adoption contact register who will try to contact my sister if they have a record of the adoption registration. Its cost me £30 so its relatively cheap so i'll see what happens. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I dont really know what else to do to try to find out her surname. If i knew that i'm certain i'd find out her address quickly.
Thanks again for everybodys help and thoughts :A
