I am in a similar position and am trying to findthe best home internet deal for my sister, who is a single mum on a very low income, After spending some time on this excellent forum I think I am gonna attempt to get her the BT free installation deal (wish me luck!!!) and then as she is already an 02 customer use them for the home internet provider.0

Mobile Broadband is great but the covreage is patchy. In 3 to 5 years I think 3G coverage will be improved but in the meantime, if you're thinking of going the mobile broadband route, I would seriosuly consider testing it if you can or go for a deal where you can return the product if the covrage is not adequate. Most of the suppliers should provide this 14 day return policy but chekc before committing to a deal.0

In regards to the BT issue - you can get free installation - - when you phone BT you need to specifically ask for the 'free connection offer'
Does anyone know if this offer extends to BT Basic - The price plan for disabled or low income users? #
Thanks everyone, I think I'm going to go with the BT and Be/O2 options that look as as near to perfect (perfect = free!) as I'm going to get, I'll let you know how I get on.
I'll still go with BT even if the offer only covers the price plandetailed here:-
Quote: Just to confirm that offer has indeed been extended until the 31/12/09. To qualify you must have both your line and calls through BT and make 10 chargeable or inclusive calls calls per month (30 per quarter) with BT or you will be charged a £6.80 per month/£20.40 per quarter on your bill. This charge will appear in the ‘One off charges’ section of your bill.
It would be handy to know if they do the same free connection for BT Basic though as I've discovered by reading this forum that BT aren't very forthcoming with information in regard to this offer (forewarned is forearmed).
Thanks muchly0 -
I did it! I got the free connection offer from BT and the half price offer from Be Broadband. The connection speed is around 9 mbps which is fantastic. No problems whatsoever, I would definately reccomend Be Broadband - Superb, I took a long time to reply, for which I apologise (I've been remiss in not stopping back to update and report on progress, which I'm trying to put right now), I've been completely wrapped up in various forums since the novelty of having broadband at home.
Many thanks to all who gave advice on here, it's due in large part to this site and all who dwell here, that I have now got blisteringly fast broadband at a superb price. Fantastic job!:T0 -
