13 week interview query

Hi all,

I have just had a 13 week interview for JSA and im slightly worried/concerned. At the interview i was told i must attend every week from now on (does this happen to everyone?) and we went over my action plan, that was fine i suppose. Now the thing that has me concerned is that he printed me off three job applications which i really have no interest in taking up, i mean one is helping under privileged kids in my area, i mean seriously i would have no idea where to even begin with a job like that nor would i be any good at it.

Don't get me wrong i'm open to all avenues of work, i've only just finished uni a few months ago with a good degree so i do have my preferences BUT again i'm open to all types of work just to get some experience in. But the applications the person gave me are just unrealistic for me, will they ask me about them the next time i'm in? MUST i apply to all of them? i don't want to seem rude or portray that im not after a job, what can i tell him? can i say i applied and got rejected? will they ask why i got rejected? It's a nuisance and i dont want to give off the wrong impression on my very first week back there on monday.

Plz help.

Thx.

Yes its normal to attend every week.
Yes its normal to be given jobs to apply for
If you dont apply for these you better have a very good reason and demonstrate other attempts you took for a job.

Tbh you sound like a bit of a !!!!!!. You have a degree so what. You dont have a job. Any job you can apply for you should be applying for. Not picking and choosing what you think you are good enough for.

Wow what a !!!!, i sound like a !!!!!!? mate no offence but i have been looking, i've been searching for all kinds of jobs that are not even remotely similar to my degree. I have not said i wont be applying for jobs they offer me i just said that these specific jobs that i have been given this week really are obscure, and are all jobs i would have trouble in even completing.

You just sound like a person who is way too eager to just have a go, i haven't come here to argue i came here because im facing a problem which im quite frankly quite worried about. You dont know nothing about me, so plz dont call me a !!!!!!.

No they are jobs that you are qualified to do.

The sad fact is a degree is often a waste of time. Please tell us what wonderful degree it is you have, what you want to do and why until you eventually pursuade someone to hire you that the taxpayer should pay you to turn your nose up at jobs because your ignorant of what they involve and your own abilities.

  • Yawn, no point arguing with you, you've quite clearly made your mind up on me and to be quite frank i don't give a damn. But just to make it clear, i am open to a wide range of jobs and i even have a job lined up working with my uncle in a few weeks if things dont start to shape up on the job hunt. And please point out where i make out having a degree is some wondrous achievement which makes me superior to other other job opportunities? I merely stated i have my preferences as i have a degree and do wish to go down that avenue someway down the line but for the time being im open to almost any type of work going.

Smile mate, it'll make you feel better.

13 weeks since you sign on. You have an interview and basically just go over your agreement and what changes if any need to be made.

Do you make up your time Anihilator by going through MSE forums insulting people? Wasn't it consumers yesterday?
  • Daniel don't worry about going every week this is usually only for 6 weeks and don't argue with them at the Jobcentre, you never get anywhere and can get yourself in trouble.

You have to be the right person for the job as well as the right job for you. An application form is only the first step in getting a job and an employer sees hundreds every time a job vacancy comes up.

Just chill Daniel and don't worry

I would not worry about the fact they are forcing you to apply for jobs that you do not want or perhaps are not suitable for.

There are still so many people out there applying for even minimum wage jobs you will still be lucky to get to the interview . It would surely not be in any employers interest to hire a person who did not want the job they were applying for or are not suitable for.
The powers that be at the JCP need to take a reality check as it is planet earth we are living on. Also perhaps someone on behalf of the JCP can explain how signing on weekly after the 13 week interview will improve a claimants chance of finding a job !
