I think I'll need to download it at an off-peak time, and check my Passport password later on other PC. Can someone tell me the file size, please?0

Does OpenOffice work?Snakeeyes21 wrote: »openoffice is free forever, why anybody would want to have this for a year is beyond me, what happens when it runs out and you suddenly find the only way to access your documents again is to buy the full version
I've tried it a couple of times and given up.
I've worked with people who have had the best intentions and used OpenOffice to work on Word documents, but they have ended up spending more time faffing around with sorting out the formatting than actually doing the work.0 -
Also when the Beta brings your system to a crashing halt (which is might, it's a Beta after all), maybe people will be more wary...
I'd never recommend any standard user ever test Beta software, unless they know exactly what they are doing. Let alone on their main systems.
And if you don't want to take my advice, then take Microsoft's:
"This is pre-release software, so please read the following to get an idea of the risks and key things you need to know before you try the Office Professional Plus 2010 Beta.
Protect your PC and data. Be sure to back up your data and please don’t test Office Professional Plus 2010 Beta on your primary home or business PC."
This isn't free software – in any way, shape or form. It's a testing period for a Beta version of the new Office 2010 (some of us have had tech previews of it for several months already...). It's be helpful if the thread title could be renamed and added as a Beta item.
It is not to be confused with free office alternatives such as OpenOffice, or the current commercial version of MS Office 2007, which the final version of 2010 will replace sometime next year.0 -
