Oh my god - neighbours builder has damaged my car???

Yep, your car needs to be repaired by a manufacturer approved paint shop to maintain the warranty, that’s really the end of the discussion.
And, at only two years old and depending on how bad the dent is, I might be looking for new panels rather than filler particularly on a large flat surface like a bonnet0 -
Let your own insurers deal with it and pursue him for it afterwards. Otherwise you will be messing around forever and a day.0

great advice there...then they'l have a mark against them for making a calim and pay more next yearLet your own insurers deal with it and pursue him for it afterwards. Otherwise you will be messing around forever and a day.
get a quote from a proper bodyshop , alot of these chips away outfits are bodgers ..i certainly wouldnt want my car painted in the driveway in winter0 -
Not bad advice really, it takes the personal aspect out of it and as long as the insurance company recover the costs off the builder then it’ll go down as a no cost claim which won’t affect premiums any more than if the OP dealt with it direct with the builder.0

They will have to declare the claim to any current and future Insurers irrespective of whether they claim it from their own car insurers or directly off the builder of the liability insurers.
I hope the builders are not with MMA, as I had a similar claim for a client eg wind blew a fence panel they had just placed on a skip which damaged a neighboors car and they (As normal) declined to pay the claim0 -
Yep this is the most important consideration. I am sure the person who did the damage will understand and if you can be prepared with a quote you can both see where you go from there.C_Mababejive wrote: »One thing you do need to consider if your car is only 2 years old,is the VW anti corrosion warranty. I have a small ding/scratch on my bonnet and with mates rates it will cost me over £250. Bonnets are the most difficult things to paint.0

I'm self employed, that's why we have insurance. 2 year old car, I would only consider a VW body shop. It's a property claim, from the builders public liability insurance, there is no need to involve your own car insurance company.0

Fine, do it your way, as long as the OP is prepared to be wait whilst the other insurers investigate liability (which can take months). Why do people bother with comprehensive insurance if they are too worried to claim against it?0 -
I'd take the chipsaway route personally.
The alternative is the builder tells you to !!!!off, and you have to take him to court. At which point he lies, and says he had nothing to do with it.0
