hey guys

i currently have a contract phone thats ending in a few weeks(vodafone) i am switching to an o2 phone.......i am transferring my number over to O2 when my PAC code arrives.......how can i get the numbers/contacts from my vodafone SIM over onto the O2 SIM/phone?the new phone is locked to O2 so i cant pop the vodafine SIM in there and copy to new phone.......is it a case of entering all manually?

Comments

  • what i did previously was to transfer them to my contact file on outlook and then trasnferred it back to my new phone sim.
SHould be easy enough if you had a usb lead with phone??
Can't think of anything funny to put here!

  • I dont use it normally but for my sanity rather than sit there inputting htem all back in 1 by 1 I used it....tbh, my partner did it for me ;) he is more tech minded than me.

I'm doing school run now, but i'll pm you later if you want to know how to do it? unless someone else answers first.

I've got a SIM card saver I got free from either Boffer or Grabitnow. I copied all my contacts from my old phone to the old SIM, then stuck it in the saver. When my new SIM arrived, I stuck it in the saver and copied all of my contacts to it.

    Simples.:D
  • Why not "send all contacts" from the old phone to the new via bluetooth? takes seconds. I do that frequently to update the contacts from my main contract to the rest, deleting existing contacts on the other phones first so they aren't duplicated. Just switch the receiving phone's bluetooth on and the old phone should find it.

thats what i was looking for, thanks a lot....just one more quick question, when i receive the new SIM(O2) and put it in the 5800,this will still be the phone number on the SIM that arrives with the phone not the one i want to port over,if i send the contacts to the O2 SIM in the 5800 i am guessing they will be stored on the SIM....when the number is ported will this delete the contacts on that SIM or can i choose to store the numbers on the 5800 itself and then transfer back to the SIM when the number is poted......maybe it wasnt such a quick question after all lol
  • I think the numbers will go onto the phone when transferred that way. You can then set the phone to automatically copy phone numbers to the sim, thus both should have them. You can also use intrared transfer, though I always use bluetooth.
