on the other hand...closing down sales...wahay!
there's already an asda at farnworth. seems a bit close for another.*** Friends are angels who lift us to our feet when our wings have trouble remembering how to fly ***
If I don't reply to you, I haven't looked back at the thread.....PM me0 -
what a shame, i go to big w in bolton too sometimes, i think all the rest are a bit further away for me,so a bit of a downer really, it does seem a bit odd that they should open another asda so close to the other one, maybe its to compete with the nearby morrisons :-/ :-/
closing down sale tho is at least some conselation ;D ;DNobody can make you feel inferior, without your permission

yeah , Woolies are gettin rid of BIG W, all the stores will be either downsized and rebranded woolworths and refitted to the new woolies format or totally sold off.Charles J0

Yeah its good for the buying of cheap stuff, but I am worried that Asda and the like are on a complete world takeover.
Do we need supermarkets on ever corner in our towns.
Another thing lots of people forget is that when their company closes down or moves dept's to the developing world is that in some cases it is caused by the these gaints of retailing, where these people who have lost there jobs shop at.
I still believe in the market and competition but not to the extent that there is only one left.
Just me having a small rant.0 -
The ASDA at Farnworth is pretty bad for parking quite a lot of the time. Maybe they will sell that site and make the Big W site their permanent store.0

Thats a shame, loved popping in now and again to see what bargains were in store - its much bigger than the town centre woolies. Will have to keep an eye out for the closing down sale as mentioned earlier"There are only two lasting bequests we can hope to give our children; one of these is roots, the other wings" - Hodding Carter

Not Bolton! Thats my Christmas shopping 2005 ruined!
Any idea when the closing down sale starts? My views are irrelevant - censorship is alive & well!0 -
The aberdeen one was advertising on local radio about a sale already, didnt hear all the details.0

they were going to rebrand all bigW to woolies last year for some reason they didn't. most of them will be sold or rebranded and spaces let out inside to small outlets.
i was wondering why they released the financial results 10 days earlier ::)Honesty is the best policy doesn't matter which web site
you are on!
if i had known then what i know now!
a bargain is only a bargain if you really need it!0
