Faulty sony C510?

I've had my C510 for about 2 or 3 months now, and it battery life was ace. I've only ever charged it when the "low battery" message is displayed. However, over the past two weeks, the battery life has plummeted. I charged the phone up over night from saturday to sunday. This morning when I woke up, the phone was dead.

The quoted standby life is up to 400 hours. I got just under 72. Yes, I sent 5 text messages over that time period, but it's certainly nowhere near what it should be. To give some context, at 11pm last night I had 14% battery. I left the phone by the bed with the backlight off and didnt touch it until I got up at 10. 14% of the battery vanished in 11 hours.

Do I have grounds to take the phone back to the shop to get a replacement battery?

400 hours standby time would be under lab conditions, probably without a sim card in, you'll get nowhere near that in the real world, try fully discharging the battery then recharging it over night

Your battery life can be affected by the strength of the phone signal. If you have a poor signal the phone will be using more battery to keep in touch than if the signal is strong. Or did you leave your bluetooth on? That eats up battery power.

  • Bluetooth, wifi and running applications will drain the battery quicker.

I also agree that 400 hours is lab conditions, i mean Nokia quoted decent levels for the N95, however most people struggled with 2 days of standby/use.

If you don't use 3g, ensure the phone is on GSM not dual mode, as 3G chews up the battery too just in standby.

My girlfriend suffers from bad battery at her house not mine, because of no/low signal the phone is constantly searching for a connection. If this is the case fine a good signal place in your room and leave it there overnight instead of on the bedside counter

A full discharge of the battery then a full recharge 5 or so times can help too. 1/2 charging isn't great and you should leave the phone charging for more than 24 hours.
