After opening, if you set up internet banking (a condition of the account is to use internet banking) you have to go into the branch to get your code, because they won't send you a pass code to your address "as it might not be secure" despite the fact they are happy to send your PIN, card and cheque book there!

Sorry to hear about the hassles you've had with your account, but would just like to mention that they will do things by post/telephone if you insist. I'm disabled and housebound and everything from applying for the account, to setting up internet/telephone banking has been done either via post or telephone. I explained that I couldn't get to a local branch and they were very helpful in sorting it all out :)

  • Stay Away.........I opened an account with them in August last year and made it my salary account, initially they gave me a Visa electron debit card and declined me a Visa debit card, I was told they will consider after 6 months but was again declined after 6 months........its been a year now with them and still with that Visa electron card......switching to HSBC soon

Opened an account a few months back and to be honest have been very impressed. Attracted by the 4% interest and also the ability to run a 8% regular saver for 2 years. Internet banking seems to be pretty good so no problems so far

They no longer issue Visa Electron. (Not even on their Under 19s account)

Try telling them you've lost your card and see if they send a Visa Debit card out.... :p
  • I've had an account with them for about 8 months now and never had a problem.
My branch staff are friendly and had a good knowledge when i need them.

  • My Classic a/c. statement arrived yesterday with an accompanying changes to T + C s leaflet. I only use this a/c. to drip feed my Reg. Savers, the cash is in one day and out the next. Be warned, the £10 buffer zone is being removed so be prepared to pay £12 or whatever for the privlledge of being informed that you are a penny in the red, if you ever use this "facility".
