never disclosed my pin no. to anyone, she retorted, "it's OK I've got it in front of me anyway, it is "*"* ! " On two further calls to Vodaphone I was again asked for my PIN no. which I declined to give and asked them NOT to disclose my PIN to me ........... I could have been anyone, and her attitude stank, ....... and then she wouldnt put me through to her supervisor ............ WHEN did it become OK to give someone my PIN no., i have never been asked for it before, just dob, maiden name etc., etc., ....... anyone else's take on this ?

I think you have misconstrued what the PIN number here is. Remember it is your Personal Identification Number - it is NOT the same as your PIN for a bank card. The reason companies with call centres like Vodafone use this is to make it easier for you to identify yourself as the account holder without going through all the details such as date of birth, postcode, mothers maiden name etc etc. Admittedly, the member of staff should not have read the number out to you, but give the poor guys a break - I am sure they were just trying to reassure you that they could see this on screen and were not trying to do anything untoward.0

RuralGuy is right. They weren't talking about your bank card PIN, they meant the PIN on your vodafone account.
I have a PIN for various companies, including my online banking, but it's not the PIN for my bank card.
You've even said in the title of this thread that you were asked for the PIN to your account.Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -
hopefully your bank pin isnt the same as your mobile pin - one would suggest an abbreviated dob perhaps ha-ha - just kidding.
I'm leaving vodaphone this month as they've become crap for me - however they always ask me for my pin - i would be more surprised if they didnt0 -
all the above are right. as long as it is just the pin for your vodafone account, all should be ok. i've just started with them and during my first call i set up the pin so i don't have to go thru all the usual id stuff and save time.
i do understand your concern at the other person just telling you it-unless they had asked you other id questions first.then they would have known it was the real you and felt it ok to tell you the pin?0 -
Agreed with the above, im ex-vodafone customer so it is just an ID so they can prove who you are when you ring upAlthough no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies0 -
