Good phone for trendy young thing?

My neice asked me to look for deals on the iPhone. she wants to buy it as a pressie for her boyfriend, he's about 20.

I've told her the iPhone is n' being discounted but that I'll ask on here for the next best (or even better) thing.

Any ideas so I don't let her down?

    I have a similar problem. I got a Samsung Jet for my daughter thinking it would be a reasonable substitute for an iPhone but she didnt like it - says it responds so slowly to commands. We sent it back in the cooling off period so Im looking again. Has anyone got a good phone thats a bit like an iphone but a reasonable price? I really dont want to give in and get an iPhone at the current extortionate prices.
