Tattoo removal??

Anyone know aanything about it??
My girlfriend wants to have one removed but its quite big and green. I've looked into it a bit and the green is the hardest to remove so I thought perhaps best to just have the name removed instead so less pain less cost and won't leave a big mess behind.
Anyone had it done or know what the cost is?

My friend had 2 removed on her arm, and she said it was much more painful than any of the tattoos she has had done, and she has a few. Can she not get it covered with a different tattoo or even just blacked out over the name or something. It is much cheaper, much less painful, and much easier. However as I don't know what the tattoo is, then it might make it look horrendous to have it blacked out etc, so it may be worth going for the removal instead. Another friend "removed' one herself with a lot of alcohol and a scrubbing brush, and although agony it has healed much better than another one she paid loads to have removed. (Owwiiiee not suggesting this for a minute, just saying how the removal doesn't come out perfectly!)
Also just to add, that they never really completely go, you are left with at best, a scarred area, and at worse the same tattoo just lighter and patchy and scarred and raised. It isn't the easy solution some places make it sound. Sorry not much help, this is just all I know about them, I can't help with places that will do it etc (though I think most tattoo shops will do it, or put you in touch with one they recommend)

Hi GHE, my mate at work has had two sessions of laser treatment on what I would describe as a black blob on his forearm, I have to say two goes has lightened it alot but will probably need two/three more sessions. He wants a new Tattoo over the top. He is paying £95 a session at Landough Hospital in Cardiff. Hope this helps, Paul.:cool:0

Get a tattooist to tat something over the name to disguise it, they spend half their lives tattooing out names..................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

Im going through treatment but have not had one for a little while as I had some slight scarring from my last treatment and thought it best to let it heal totally - which it now has.
It is very painful. I have mine done at a high profile clinic in Manchester city centre. Its quite expensive and my tattoo is only small and only black ink.
She will need to consider all sorts of things like where the tattoo is as well because after laser treatment its common to have some scabs form and some people get blisters although I never have.
I have a few more to go yet but after two treatments it has lightened an awful lot! Im pleased with it so far.
I would shop around and get some quotes and visit places to see who is the best. I choose my treatment centre based on recommendations.0 -
I have recently got into laser tattoo removal.
My laser is an Nd:Yag, which is good at blacks, blues and reds, but not much good on greens. Greens need a Ruby laser or Alexanderite laser. Both these lasers have more potential to damage the skin than an Nd:Yag thogh, so it needs very careful management.
There is an excellent laser clinic in Nottingham, but I can't remember it's name.
It would be easier to just get a name taken out of it. Is the name in green as well, or black?
Also - are you sure it's green ink. Some black inks can look a greenish hue on darker skintones. If the skin is darker, then you really need to be even more careful with the Ruby or Alexanderite lasers.
If you want to P.M. me, I'll send you my email address for the laser service. I'm quite a way from Notts - so it's not practical for you to come and see me, but if you send me a photo of it, I can give you a better idea of what removal might entail.
Don't be tempted by any of the chemical removal methods. At best they don't work - at worst, they have a very high chance of scarring.
EDIT :- The place in Nottingham is the Mapperly Clinic. They won't be cheap, but they know what they're doing. How to find a dentist.
1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.0 -

Tatooists love doing names, because they know they'll be getting the job of disguising them. They're usually pretty good at changing names into a nice pattern. Pity the bloke wasn't called Elvis..................

Tattoo removal shouldn't be done whilst she's pregnant (or breast feeding) - neither, really, should tattooing - but tattooists don't always work to the same standards as a medical clinic.
Maperly clinic will have lasers that can do green. How to find a dentist.

GHE....im not a tattooist, but i have quite a few tattoos myself, and none of them include words or any names(i made sure of that...lol). Mine are feminine, floral, butterfly type designs which i designed myself.
Anyway....there have been some excellent advice from the previous posters for you to think about. If i was your girlfriend i would have the design covered up with another tattoo. But you really need to research to find the very best tattooist that specialises in cover ups, and if possible avoid having a lot of black ink in the design as this can look b1oody awfull, as can having the name crossed out!
All the best with the new baby,
