I have a modem with virgin and also a router, but to get my pc wireless i need a bit that goes in the back of the pc? Do i have to get the one from virgin or can i search around for a cheaper one? (i think virgin charge £20)
Sorry if this isnt the right forum, i wasnt sure where to put it.

    That's a Netgear router?
All you need is a wireless 'G' USB adapter (external) or a wireless 'G' PCI card (internal). They should all be compatible, but my advice is to also get a Netgear adapter, then if you do have any issues, their tech support cannot blame it on the other brand of hardware.
How can we know if a secondhand one will work or not? If it's sold as working, then presumably yes!

Once you entered the correct encryption code, it will then work on any wireless router. Make sure you use WPA security if your router will support it, not WEP (which is not secure).
