  • 5pm? What about being fair to those of us that have to work for a living?
If it's the same offer that's posted on other sites I hope the offer won't have expired by 5pm!

understand why you might be suspicious, I can only say my motives were genuine. Martin's email and this offer reminded me that Spotify existed so I tried to get onto it. This is why I offered to send link to administrator to verify before posting. Have only been using Spotify for an hour so can't really review it at present, but from what I've heard it seems like a good idea, and a free stream (yes there are ads for the free version but so far I haven't found them to be obtrusive).

Also does 2 posts about Spotify constitute "lots" and we were all "newbies" at some point - just trying to offer some help - pls don't put me off at my first attempt :o

So half an hour after signing up for spotify that you just remembered existed you post here to say you have a link for something that you've heard seems a good idea, suspicious, yes, helpful possible or again people could just wait until 5.00 pm.
  • Sadly I've never had anything worth mentioning to post before this thread, but if you Google for 'spotify invite' the first non Spotify link takes you to a page called Zath.co.uk that has the open link for Getting Started on Spotify. Worked yesterday for me, I spent the afternoon listening to music on it.

And trying to work out if the tune in the background of their Dabs adverts is indeed the theme tune to Gremlins. :)

  • I've been using Spotify for months, almost since it started, and I think it's excellent. There are a lot of bands that are not available on it, such as Led Zeppelin, the Beatles, Pink Floyd and my own personal favourite Half Man Half Biscuit (the best band in the world) but there are millions of tracks from many other artists. You can create playlists, rather like iTunes, but you can't create folders, so I have a huge list of lists, each dedicated to one artist. I checked out Last FM and Musicovery and they are poor in comparison, although they do introduce you to music that you may not otherwise hear. The only problem with Spotify is the adverts but these are only once every twenty minutes or so, so they're acceptable. And it's free! It's amazingly good. Highly recommended. You can get the whole thing without adverts for £9.99 a month, as the adverts never tire of telling you. I'm happy with it as it is.
  • Yes, some people are just the sharing kind - this is a good post, and reminded me that I found a different link - http://www.mukaumedia.co.uk/spotify-invites-invitations-codes/comment-page-1/ which also works.
    Am I under suspicion too?

The 5pm link is not necessarily for everyone - I don't like to put credit card details into a site that I do not know well even tho they say they won't charge - errors are too frequent these days.

Spotify seems to be quite a different place - the free site has ads, and the 'premium' option does not. So no monthly outgoing is needed. Afaics the 5pm one link here will give people a free month on that site, then if they want to continue, they have to sign up. Spotify is free. And you don't need to rush for a place.

Thanks to those posters who mentioned it in the first place

  • Oh, and the likely reason for spotify appearing in posts all of a sudden (like buses!), is that the Metro - free paper - had a mention of it as being an iTunes rival within the last few days. I'd never heard of it till then!
