Hey who said that the branches aren't used any more. Whenever I go in there they're practically queuing out onto the street. I'll start using Internet banking when they give me a number to dial on a modem straight into their systems. Up until that time however, I'm in that branch.
  • I believe the Titanium pre pay card from the post office is gonna be where thoes of us poor ones who have been taken advantage of will go. I have no problem of paying 5.00 a month for the card and 10.00 set up fee, and paying the odd 2.00 a couple of times a month if I really need extra cash late at night in the middle of nowhere with a atm in a offlicence that is gonna charge any one who uses it, because I can use the card anywhere else in the world FREE to purchase things, on-line off line down the shops over the phone pay bills etc etc. The only reason I use a bank account is to be able to use these facilities, and half of the cards are useless with on-line purchases, but I know it will take Mastercard. I cannot afford to have savings so dont need one for that, Good old post office fighting back.
  • and no I am not advertising for my benifit, I havent even got one yet, but if I have any problems with my bank because of claiming back charges, that is where I will go. I do not want to carry cash, so I shall keep a few bob on me for bits through the week etc and put the rest on the card. Much better than a basic bank account the possibilities are endless :)

The answer to all this is quite simple - live within your means!

Do you know, I'd never thought of that.

Perhaps I'll run my car on air from now on.

...and maybe I'll live in a shed (although I doubt I'd get a reduction on my council tax - which has risen more than any other in the country for the third year running - shame the wages don't rise at the same rate as that or petrol isn't it)

Once upon a time, I did live well within my means. Sadly, that was before the recession that we are presently in.
