eeek! what's wrong with my tumble dryer?

Hi all. :hello: It's a really stupid question, but I'm hoping that someone wise can help me.
I've had problems with my laundry not drying properly in the house, so I thought I'd give it a quick tumble dry (as much as I hate the thought, I can't wonder around in wet clothes!). I put in two loads (followed guidelines about load weight, etc), and they have both come out soggier than before!
The laundry was part dry, sort of not wet but cold to the touch kind of wetness (does that make sense?). I had both loads in for 40 minutes each, on cotton dry setting.
I'm sure there's something wrong with the machine (it's a washer/dryer in one), I was wondering if anyone could tell me common problems that can occur with tumble dryers please?
Thank you for your help in advance

Maybe the thermostat has gone, that heats up to dry the clothes?0

Hi pink_numbers,
You should get more help with this from the experts who post on the In My Home board so I'll move your thread over there.
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.0 -
Hi Pink-winged, thank you for moving it to a more appropriate board, apologies for posting it in the wrong place.
Re: thermostat... the laundry comes out steaming hot, so I assume it's not the thermo... It comes out steaming hot but damp0 -
how does the machine vent? is there a blockage in the venting part perhaps? stopping the damp air from escaping? On an ordinary tumble they have a hose thing and it mustnt get kinked and sometimes needs cleaning out to remove any lint but I dont know with a washer dryer..0
