  • I have used these this week , Sent my scrap gold in on the 15/11/11 they recieved it on the 16/11/11 phoned me that afternoon with the quote, cheque recieved 17/11/11 in my account 18/11/11,
the online quote for my 32.55 grams was £421.52 , when the nice lady phoned me she said it was worth £422.82 so I was well happy.
I fully recommend this Birmingham based company. :j :T
  • I had some gold and chose lois jewellers because i had seen it on this site.I weighed it and on their website put the weight in and got a calculation of £1275 for an estimated 100grams of gold.I posted it to them special delivery at 3.45pm wednesday afternoon,at 10.30 the next morning they rang me to say they had received it and weighed it and after removing a couple of bits that were not gold had weighed it at 93 grams and offered me just over £1200 for it.I accepted the offer and by 2.00pm that afternoon the money was in my bank account.
Absolutely fantastic service and would definately recommend it to any one who has any old gold laying around. The price per gram was top dollar as i had had a look around to see what some of the other jewellers were paying per gram.
    10 out of 10.......

  • I've noticed posts expressing suspicion about the number of newbie posts praising Lois Jewellery. Well, I am not a newbie - my old posts can be seen on this site - and my experience with Lois was most pleasing. Their online quote for my sterling silver item was the highest I found, and their instructions were simple and straightforward. I posted an item to them on Tuesday. On Wednesday morning I received a phone call confirming the price I was expecting - all very honest and open, no "number witheld", no haggling. On Thursday morning the cheque arrived. Result: one satisfied customer. (Though I suppose sceptics will rightly point out that I shouldn't have posted this until the cheque has cleared!)
  • I sent almost around 1600g of old coins to Lois Jewellery, their rates being the best I could find.
Next day I received a phone call telling me that the weight was greater that I had stated and that the amount they were paying was greater than my estimate.
The bank transfer was very quick.
    I recommend this company.

    Further to my post above.
I've just read the cynical posts questioning the number of first posts recommending Lois Jewellery of Birmingham.
I assure you that my post is genuine and I found the company through this site.
It was therefore natural that I join MSE to express my satisfaction with them.

I recently sold some gold to Lois Jewellery and can also recommended them. I didn't want to use the post so I called in on the way home from a trip for a family party. I went to 2 gold buyers in the jewellery quarter that have been recommended on MSE. According to the their web sites the other was offering more per gram than Lois, however, Lois offered me significantly more cash for my gold! I found Lois very professional, helpful and courteous.

As a general tip when selling gold I would suggest separating your gold in 22/18/... etc. packs (and so knowing what you have). And having an idea of the weight. We had a bit of confusion with some 14ct in with 9ct which in hindsight we should have separated out.

For anyone visiting the jewellery quarter I can say that there is on street parking at 70p/hr. There is also a multi-storey car park which is a similar price I believe but I felt more comfortable parking very visibly on street given what I had in my jacket.

I'm one of the people Skint Lynne (post 13) recomended (via another forum) I sold three packs of gold - mostly brocken bits and a few bowling medals. All three transactions were conducted with great speed and as my kitchen scales were inaccurate over the amount expected. The money was in the bank on each occasion within a couple of hours of the telephone call. My bits and pieces totalled about £1000 altogether. These transacions were about 3 years ago so they are by no means a fly by night operation.

Would use them again without any problem.
  • Lois Jewellery have been in the Jewellery Quarter ever since I was a kid. My Dad ran a shop nearby and he always used them. I popped in yesterday with a couple of pieces I just wanted valued (the gold & silver market have crashed recently, I won't sell until I absolutely need to) - amazing quick friendly service, and great prices quoted. Do not hesitate to use these guys.
