I have just called money4gold customer services and spoke to a man in the UK. I questioned him about how much they were paying per g for gold and he said that they did not know as this was done at the refinery.
I had sent silver and gold, so asked about mine (As posted earlier I got £65.81 in the end).I was told that I had been given the maximium amount for my items, but I think it is always worth a call to 0800 043 4653 to ask the question if you are not happy with the amount, they can only say no and it appears that you can get a better pay out this way.:A0 -
I sent a huge amount of gold and silver to this company about 6 weeks ago. Firstly I got an insulting cheque for £59 so I sent the cheque straight back. When I called a few days later to ask if they had received it they said they had but they could offer me more. After lots of haggling we finally decided on over 3 times the original amount they sent me. I have now been waiting almost 4 weeks for my new cheque!! I called last week and was told they would cancel the cheque and send me a new one...a week later, still nothing. I spoke to them again this morning and was told that the old cheque still hasn't been cancelled and a they can't send a new one until it has. After reading all these messages I'm going to call again now and ask for either my gold back or I want my cheque straight away. These people are CRIMINALS!!0

I agree, never use this company. I sent off a fair bit of gold, I didnt weigh it but knew it cost around £300 new for the lot so would have been happy with around £100-£150 for it, they sent me a chq for £10.15p!!!
The chq got sent back on 30th sept and I'm still waiting to get it back, they keep promising its in the post and only today I have been given the special delivery number. I've had to threaten them with the police and was starting to think I'd never see the jewellery again. I did receive a call from an American man last week asking why I'd sent the chq back and what figure I was looking for but the most he would offer me was £30.:mad:0 -
I used Money4Gold about 6 weeks ago. I sent off a small consignment of odd earrings, bracelets etc to 'test the water'. Apparently when you post the items you are insured up to £500 for loss (but not sure how accurate this is), anyhow I thought the value of the packet would be considerably lower than this, round the £200 mark. After a week I received a cheque for £25 which I was pretty miffed about and returned immediately. I received a phone call the following day offering me £50, which I again turned down, and requested the return of my items. It took approx 3 weeks and 2 recorded delivery letters to get my items returned. Last week my son took the same items to a local jeweller, and he obtained £125 cash. There seems to be a great flurry of these adverts to sell gold, and now I've tried it out of curiosity, I don't think I'll be rushing to do it again.0

I sent m4g 49g of gold and 100g of silver and I got a check for £73 which I promptly sent back recorded delivery. I waited 10 days and emailed asking where my gold & silver was...waited two more days and emailed again did not get a reply to either email. I must have called around 30 times from my work yesterday and I eventually got through I was told by a recorded message I was number one in the queue and should wait approx one minute, I then got the ring tone then nothing..I was cut off. I emailed again last night and got a phone call from USA saying they could offer me £218.00 treble the cheque amount which I have accepted. I just wish I had read this thread first0

COMPLETE CON!!! I used money4gold last month, i sent off some really nice stuff it weighed about 100grams so having used Ramsdens before and getting £200 for 50grams i thought yippeee. It works where they send you a cheque if you like what they offer you you cash the cheque if you dont you send it back. I received a cheque for £106 i actually laughed. I phoned to say i wouldnt be accepting it they asked why so i said think its a bit cheeky for what i sent, on the phone she actually doubled it to £212 which i didnt like cos if i would of accepted £106 they knew it was worth more, so i said no send me my gold back no probs. Next day i get a call from them offering me £320 which is makin me think my gold is worth more and that they are really out of order i said no send me my gold back no probs. Next day another call offering me £400 i told them i really wasnt happy and i felt like they were conning me and they had told me the first day i phoned my gold was on its way back so they lied, they werent too bothered. Got my gold back eventually went to a jewellers near where i live and got £600 for it. Im all for people making money but not ripping people off, still cant believe there 1st offer was £106 that was a joke.0

I sent several gold items to "money for gold" last month and eventually received a measley cheque for £37.00. I immediately returned the cheque and then heard absolutely nothing for about 3x weeks. I rang their phone number, only for it to be engaged. When I eventually got through to customer services, I explained my situation and was asked how much I was expecting? I told her that I was looking for at least £75.00. I was told that there were numerous costs which they had to pay out i.e posting out the gold packs, weighing the gold etc. She then said that she would put me on hold while she spoke to her spervisor. Two minutes later, she was back and said that they could now offer me £87.50 after wavering the charges? I accepted the offer and received the cheque today. Lets just hope it doesn't bounce!!!0

I sent for a Gpak 2 weeks ago and it arrived very swiftly indeed, i thought great, they seem to be very prompt with everything, they're also on the TV advertising all the time........how wrong can you be!!
I sent off 27g of gold only to receive a cheque for £54.08. There was no way i would accept that so i called them straight away, at first i couldn't get hold of them as the number was constantly engaged. I then called the next morning at 8.30am when they opened, i managed to speak to someone who asked me what had I expected to receive!! I told her more than £2.00 per gram what they were offering and to send my gold back. She advised me she would speak to a manager and get back to me that afternoon......as expected no-one called!! I called again the next morning so i was sure to get through, i was then given an offer of £121.20 which i still refused, by this point i had told them to send my gold back and i would return the cheque by special delivery (costing me £4.95) so they'd have it by 1pm the next day. Low and behold i have a message to call them that afternoon, when i did they offered me £151.85. This is still less than i could get but couldn't be bothered with the hassle anymore so accepted it. I've been told i'll get the cheque this Fri 20/11/09!! Reading some of the other posts i might be in for a longer wait. I'll post another comment once received. I'm using the money to buy a carpet for my baby's room so they's better sort it out soon. They must rip so many people off that don't weigh the gold first. How can they send a cheque for one amount and the then almost treble it after a few calls. It's about time they were investigated!!Nat0 -
I sent off 33g of gold back in September, hoping to receive a cheque for over £200 to help with Christmas shopping.
Adverts stated you would receive a cheque within 24 hours of them receiving gold. Checked post everyday & around 2 weeks later a cheque arrived for - EIGHTLY ONE PENCE !!!!, I was totally shocked. Rang up & was told it must be a mistake & was asked how much I was expecting, I advised over £200. I was told to return the queque & gold would be returned.
I returned cheque on 21st October & am still waiting for my gold to be returned. I was told last Monday (09/11/09) that gold was on it's way back & I should receive it that week.
I will need to chase again but this is really not good enough, these firms are advertising on TV & should be stopped.0 -
Having previously received an offer of £51.23 for my scrap jewellery in September from another company, I sent it off to M4G expecting them to offer me twice as much as per their 'double price guarantee'. But they offered me just £23.50, so I promptly sent back their cheque and asked them to return my jewellery.
A month later, despite several unanswered emails, I still hadn't received my jewelley. So I sent them a letter threatening court action if they didn't return my jewellery or make a better offer. I then received a phone call from an American sounding lady who was very apologetic about how I had been treated and offered me £90 which I gladly accepted.
Don't waste your time with M4G - there are better companies out there.0
