This thread is specifically to discuss feedback for the
Postal gold companies, where you pop your old jewellery in an envelope & they melt it down and send you a cheque, have boomed in the past couple of months. We’re researching a guide to selling old gold, and need help from folks who’ve used these companies.
If you've used this company, please can you tell us the following...

Important note for Representatives of Gold Companies
We will be monitoring the threads, and if we believe any company has got its own representatives to deliberately post positive feedback (or negative on its competitors) it will be deleted, and we will count that as negatively towards any company's reliability and trustworthyness.

This seems like an easy way for burglars to 'fence' their swag without any face to face contact. Are there any proof of ownership safeguards in place?0

Just to say that I've used gold traders in Swindon twice and both times the service was excellent, they phoned to confirm the amount the gold was worth and even sent my stones back. I sent the gold special delivery post as instructed. Surely no-one would send gold in a freepost envelope??!0

I was offered £5/gram for my gold at the booth in my local shopping centre. That seemed a bit low so I decided to give Gold-Traders a try. Gold-Traders were quoting £7.38/gram for 9 carat gold on the website on Tuesday night. I sent my gold off by special delivery (cost £4.95) on Wednesday lunchtime - it was unknown carat so I just asked for a quote. Thursday afternoon they phoned me; the rate had gone up to £7.70/gram. I accepted the quote on the phone and had a cheque in my hand when the postman came on Friday. Brilliant!:T 159% of what the shopping centre booth had offered!
And all for a bracelet I found in the street! I did hand it in at the police station but it went unclaimed and after a couple of months became mine to dispose of. That was a lucky day!Smile and be happy, things can usually get worse!

Fantastic company to deal with and really fast payment! They called on Monday afternoon with a quote for my gold, and i received the cheque on Tuesday morning, also have to say they returned the items that turned out not to be gold. Fantastic prices paid, in fact the best ive seen! Highly recommended!!0

The site was reccommended by a colleague I was impressed with the speed of service and the return of non gold items, and would definately reccommend to others althiough there is always the risk with handling post that you may incur a loss.0

:TJust had to write this review to reassure any doubters! Have previously dealt with most of the High Street gold traders only to have just found out about Gold-Traders Ltd-only wish I had known about them before I handed over my hard earned gold to rip-off merchants!
Their service is second to none, fast, friendly, professional and extremely honest with items values. I received a full £168 more than the 'best' High Street offer on one item alone! Sent item Tuesday afternoon, received full offer Wednesday by email and cheque posted that day! What else can you ask for! Definitely will recommend and use again. PERFECT!0 -
I have just received a cheque for £1215.10 from Gold Traders Ltd. Sent my gold on Thursday, they phoned Friday with valuation. Today Saturday cheque and gemstones received in post. Very fast and super efficient service would certainly reccommend them to anyone considering cashing in their gold.
Had previously sent gold to Cash4Gold, as advertised on TV and after a week received a very dissapointing cheque for £205 which was promptly returned.
Thanks to Gold Traders my daughter and I are going to book a well earned holiday in the sun)

Isn't it a remarkable coincidence that almost all of the positive posts on this thread are from people who have registered very recently and have only posted in this thread?"I don't want to sound cold and un-caring, but I am those things so that's the way it comes out" - Bill Hicks0

What a fantastic service from Gold Traders.
My local jewellery shop offered me less than half the amount recieved from this company.
I decided to do some research on the post off your gold for money companies and came across an editiorial in the Guardian News paper. (12/9/2009 Gold: should you rush to sell by Patric Collinson). I contacted Gold Traders on Thursday and they explained how to fill out the online quote and to follow their detailed postal instructions. I sent my gold off catching the 5pm special delivery at my local post office. Friday someone called to talk through my quotes and Saturday morning I received a cheque. How fast, How simple, How safe.0
