Getting to the O2 by tube & parking etc?

This is probably in the wrong forum location, so sorry.
We’re off to the O2 this Sunday and wondered if anyone had any tips on the best place to park near a tube station and go in by tube. We’ll be driving from the west (M40) so probably one on the west side of London would be best? We could come down the M1 if there was a better tube park option? In the past we’ve driven to Ealing and parked in the street, but that’s just because we know it there.
We looked into the train option but it works out at around £45 (Super Off Peak Return), so the fuel cost to drive plus parking will be less.
I would appreciate any top tips?

You can easily park at the O2. It's 17 quid if you book in advance (it's on the O2 Arena website). Plus no congestion charge on Sunday!"...IT'S FRUITY!"0

Howabout the Park Royal Travelodge? Think it'll cost £5 to park then its pretty close to Park Royal Tube Station.
Pretty convenient for the M40......0 -
Thanks OK Sauce, we considered that but thought it would be difficult to get across London by car from the west but maybe it’s not so bad on a Sunday evening (5-6pm). Also my experience with venue car parks is they’re grid locked when it’s time to go, but maybe the O2 is different?Regards

Thanks Davetrousers that's an option that's close to Ealing but maybe the tube route is better, I'll look into that. I take it the parking at the Travelodge is possible if you’re not staying?Regards

I went last Wednesday to the WWE wrestling with my 12 year old. We drove down the M11, on the A12 straight to the arena and parked in Car Park 2 which is supposed to be for the cinema. It cost me £8 and I was there from 1430 to about 2300. Coming out, it took me around 30 minutes to get back on the A12, but that's about the average wait for a tube on a busy night.
My daughter went to see Beyonce on Sunday. I told her to park in car Park 2, but there were lots of stewards continually stopping their car and asking where they were going, and when they said the Cinema, they were told that they would have to produce a cinema ticket to prove it, which is a lie (in fact, parking is free if you get the cinema to validate your parking ticket!). In the end, they were forced to park in Car Park 1 at a cost of £25. Coming out would have been fairly easy if they hadn't forgotten which bay the car was parked in!0 -
Thanks maxtweenie, I can see coming down the M11 that's a good option. From the west (M40) I'm thinking parking near the tube may be best? Just seen Hillingdon (Metropolitan) at the end of M40 has station parking for £1 on Sunday (283 spaces) although that's a long and not so cheap tube journey, but may be an option?Regards

Coming from the M40 we usually choose Hillingdon to park. Large car park so no problem parking and straight off A40.0

You (hopefully) find a space and buy a ticket from the machine and put it in your windscreen.
I've parked at the Kew Bridge Travelodge before when not staying there. They have a sign saying it is open to the public......0 -
Thanks everyone for your help, we're going for the Hillingdon option,
Off peak day travel card at £7.50 each (zone 1-6). Apparently some work on Jubilee line means we’ll have to make some more changes to get to North Greenwich.Regards

Looks like the very last bit of the Jubilee Line between Stratford and North Greenwich is suspended. Replacement buses in operation. Could've been worse.0
