Have you got turkey poisoning like my house?
oh, poor house! Has the front door gone green? No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......0 -
I didnt poison any turkeys... they were dead already :-)0
-
I want to thank all of you for all those wrods of sympathy over my poorliness....
I am slowly going on the mend.....but not in any way due to tamiflu....or the NHS healthline, flu line, plague line, out-of-hours service.....or any other high-profiled, but totally useless and insensitive service provided by, or under the auspices of, the NHS.
[sorry to all those on here who work within the NHS...it's not your faults, it's the system whereby management are ruled by performances and targets...where the real motivation is the bonus and the CV]
my saga [yup, SAGA have long since ceased to frighten me...] continued yesterday morning....when I decided to ring my surgery to [a] see if they were back to normal working, & check out how I collect a dox note.
the lady at the gate was her usual pleasant self [they all are, I've known them all years]....and got the duty GP to call me back.
he did, and ...it was my own [preferred] GP {I have two, reception have noted on my records...there are something like 10 in the practice...]....no formality..but a cheery 'hello Alastair, had a good Christmas?'
He then asked me to explain what went wrong....symptoms, etc......and when I mentioned the Tamiflu, his immediate comment was ''you can junk that rubbish, it's useless!''
This much I was beginning to suspect...according to the propaganda, by the third dose, one should notice an immediate improvement...I wasn't!
''what I needed was a good course of anti biotics, a box of paracetamol, and a couple of weeks of putting my feet up.''
Which was what I was after the day before!
He explained.....the various types of flu going around, usually get dealt with, over time, by the body itself...with paracetamol to assist in a more comfortable ride.
The problems arise due to the suppressed immune system...and the increased chances of secondary infections...chest, throat, lugoyles,etc....
Tamifly doesn't tackle these.......at least, not effectively.
so, another trip to town, big wadge of Amoxycyllin, huge pack of paras [I have a pre-paid card]......and tamiflu into the bin!
over the phone, he diagnosed I have a secondary chest infection....which was the real worry!
none of this ''I'm not coming near you, you've got flu, call the flu helpline''...............in his own words, 'an appalling load of boswellox!''
so I am making positive progress.....at last....
maybe the above will be of help to those amongst you who find themselves in a similar position, of being passed from pillar to post because of a national policy...always contact your own GP as soon as they are back at work......sadly, GP's seem to be the only one's out there with a clue.
all the rest of the policy makers are interested only in palliatives. No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......0 -

Hi all, So sorry you've not been well Phil and that your dad is back in hospital, did you make it up here at all? Alastair, roll on that flu boogaring off!
I had an eventful day, I tagged along with friends who went shopping, they wanted to call into 'car craft' OMG! what a set of theiving g*ts in there. The price of the cars was hideously inflated to start with, I had to search hard for any information on APR's.. typically 19.9% that's £1000's in interest over the term. Good gosh, I was cringing, getting annoyed at people being taken for mugs, for allowing them to be taken for mugs, for me being taken for a mug in previous years. I wasn't till today when I really truelly knew I had changed. NOBODY is eer going to get an easy penny out of me any more, I have to save for my car for university in 2 years time (hopefully!) so i'm saving now.. that is the life i'm leading now and i'm rather happy with it.0 -
