Free Commuter Parking

Why not park on someone's driveway? After all that's free and like the supermarkets there's nothing they can do about it.0

I would never recommend not paying for parking no matter what type.0

Totally honest - you cannot be made to pay for using a private car park. Everyone who commutes by train can make this considerable saving if there's a supermarket near their station. I'm sure if lack of space becomes a problem then the supermarket giants could invest in some form of parking control - barriers, attendants etc - but until then enjoy the huge savings. As a bonus should the station be close to a nearby airport then you can avoid expensive parking charges for the cost of a cheap return fare. Happy hols!!
Do you work for a private car parking company by any chance?0 -
So single mum's and pensioners park at Tescos at 8.45am not to return until 5.15pm?! Shoppers who cannot get parking spaces will be celebrating and cheering on the towers!Re clamping and towing they'll never do it - imagine the local paper with distressed pensioner/single mum scenario. They lose and we win - result!!0 -
I uderstand your viewpoint but with respect this is a "Money Saving" forum. Being a well known supermarket they have to appear to be sensitive to their customers so no risk of the nasty clampers-wouldn't want to scare the regulars away. Therefore park however you like whenever you like. This is a real " Money Saving" idea with no risks attached. And don't feel too sorry for the supermarkets - just read numerous threads within the forums to see how they treat their customers.
Abusing the system is the same whether its the PPC that tries to "fine" someone £45 for staying 10 mins over the 2 hours in a carpark or someone who parks there all day.
Justify being a jerk if you want, you're still being a jerk. As for rattling on about how supermarkets treat their customers, since when have two wrongs made a right? If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything0 -

I agree. Looking at the last thread Garnelle started, his opening gambit was this...My mother lives in a development of 100 flats next to a main line station and many offices. It is a 60's development with limited parking spaces. The car park is continously used by individuals with no connection to the development...
Yeah, life's a b!tch when commuters park in a private car park, isn't it Garnelle...?No trees were killed to send this message, but a large number of electrons were terribly inconvenienced. - Neil deGrasse Tyson (@neiltyson)0 -
Still a bit puzzled about whether clamping in a private car park is actually legal. According to Surrey Trading Standards office it is legal if the site owners have entered into an arrangement with the clampers.
Is this correct?0
