Sky vs VM question...

Quite simply:

VM XL
£21.50 a month (with a phone)
£27.50 a month sky movies and sport
£49.00 a month
First 2 months free

£?? set up cost

Sky HD
£48.50 per month (to inc. sports and movies)
£9.50 a month for having HD

£30 one off set up

So, assuming the above is correct, over a year Virgin appears a little cheaper. From what I can see, the key difference is that Virgin have fewer HD channels.

Anyone any experience of Virgin vs Sky? I'm currently a Sky TV customer and Virgin broadband. I'm looking to haggle for the best deal (with either). If one is notably worse than the other the I may stay with what I have.

Stick with Sky, believe me it's worth the extra cost in the long run.

I've just posted a message myself on Virgin Media as they are desperately trying to take money off me that they are not owed.

They've told me over an over again I do not need to pay for my V+ box, yet this morning I've got a bill where they appear to be trying to charge me again. They've added a late payment fee even though my bill was paid on time (they say as much on my current bill, but still charged me a late payment fee).

I was with Sky for about 3 years, and never had any problems whatsoever. I've had a good offer off them now, and am just waiting to phone them tomorrow to check that they're going to allow me to leave my contract early due to their incompetence before accepting the offer.

You can get free installation for Sky with a recommend a friend offer, and £50 M&S vouchers.

No idea about Virgin but thought that could be useful info.
    I love surprises!

Yes this is true its a good offer from sky, vm will charge you for instalation but once that is paid you wont get charged for any faults or call outs unlike sky. Also worth noteing that when with vm you dont get left on hold for hours on end calling a premium rate phone number. You will hear individual horror stories for both sides so dont let that distract you. For the record i have been with vm for a few years now and they have been ok with me......
  • I have been with Virgin Media previously Telewest for 7 years and have had no problems with them at all. The few faults I have had have been fixed quickly and efficiently.

The reason I'm staying with Sky is due to the Red button use on Sky Sports - Football First, Champions League Match Selection, etc
