M&S

Options
It's not surprising M&S are in trouble - we've had £30 worth of M&S vouchers since our wedding in September 2002, yet in Folkestone there is absolutely nothing to buy with them!!!

We went in again just after Xmas and it was appalling. Unless you want grannyfied clothes or food then you're out of luck!

When will they get into the 21st century and start producing some nice clothes for those of us under the age of 75?

I just pop in now and then.... :)

Why not donate them to an appeal fund.

I agree with you Bridie - when my son was born in March 2000 a friend sent him a £10 M&S voucher. 2 years later i still had it - i couldn't find anything to buy him with it.

In the end i bought him something from elsewhere and spent the £10 voucher on food - which also annoyed me cos i know i'd have been able to buy the same things for less in Tesco.

Have you got an elderly relatives who does like M&S? If so could you give them the £30 voucher for a birthday/xmas present and buy yourself something for same amount elsewhere?

I love some of the home stuff in M & S. Why not treat yourselfs to some nice luxury towels or put it towards bedding or something, I dont think their home store is Granny like, Far from it, some of the stuff is beautiful.

Either that or they sell a FAB lobster dish for £15 - and buy some nice wine to go with it,......total indulgence!!!

BTW - If you do this, I'll be round for dinner!!!!!
    I think therefore i am....not TOTALLY thick!!!

They obviously didn't know your tastes very well though did they?

Why not find someone who does like M&S and ask them to give you cash for them?

I know what you mean. They seem to jump from ultra trendy stuff (cropped tops etc) to granny-style blouses and stuff that even I wouldn't wear - and I'm getting on a bit! :-/ :'(

Sorry but I am old fashioned. I always try to avoid giving money or gift vouchers unless its for a specific item i.e. driving test or driving lessons.

I prefer to try to find a gift that will please someone - yes I know impossible with men LOL, but that is the pleasure of giving and receiving gifts. You just don't get the same effect with money. I would think the people who gave you the vouchers are disappointed that after over 2 years you still haven't told them what you purchased with them.

It seems common practice now when I get wedding invites to say - no presents, vouchers or cash please. I accept that they have everything they need now so what am I giving them money for - to go to the wedding? In contrast when I go to friends birthday parties they nearly always say 'No gifts please but a collection box will be sited on the bar for X Charity'. Some even say no cards to save the enviroment. It's nice to know I am being invited for my company not my gift.

Final note - does anyone buy engagement presents now? Seems to have died out.

Dont think so, i've never bought an engagment present, usually just send a card.

Think I might ask my mum again if she will buy them off me...

We originally said no presents, but everyone was up in arms over it so we said no presents, but if someone wanted to buy us something could we please have Argos or Homebase vouchers (we already had a house together so needed DIY stuff really) but for some reason ended up with the M&S ones, plus also got a £25 House of Fraser voucher which we cant use as the nearest one is over 70 miles away!!!

Has anyone tried selling vouchers on ebay? Do vouchers have an expiry date?

I just pop in now and then.... :)

Do vouchers have an expiry date?

No idea about M&S but we got Next ones which were valid for a year.

If they don't have a date anywhere they should be ok, although I would give them a call to double check.

You don't want an irate eBayer on your back for out of date vouchers, lol. :D

M&S vouchers(credit or gift) have no expiry date.In fact if you found one that was 50 years old they would still accept it!!
    I want money..........that's what I want !!:j
