Good old Ebay! That's where I got mine from. I set myself the total cost (inc P&P) of a packet of cigs.

There's a section in there for advice for people like you who would love for their loved ones to quit. He advises you should read it too.

It will give you lots of ideas of how to get through to him.

However, as I've been the smoker being asked not to smoke by people I love, I smoked more. A bit like rebellion really.

Perhaps you could set a budget for the ciggies each week and once it's gone that should be it. It is hard when you're so addicted.

My bet is that he says he enjoys it and that he's not addicted. Read the book and you'll find ways to counter these arguments.

    Best of luck.

    Hi Milliejon
Hope everything is fine with you. Great idea the mobiles. Gives you something to look forward to. My mobile is on contract every year when my contract runs out I threaten to leave. I end up with a new phone and a reduced bill. I them pass my old mobile down through the family saving me from buying a replacement PAYG. All the best Joe

Hi Joe. I'm actually fine thank you. It's the end of the day 12 and I've got to the £50 saved mark! I can't believe it.

We all went for a walk today to feed the ducks. It was great not to keep lighting up. I could run around with my little girl, and not have to watch where my ciggy was incase she ran into it.

Unfortunately, that £50 is not showing in the bank account yet. We're spending more on food we don't really need. We'll get back to budget shopping at the beginning of next month. Hopefully my overdraft will go down by more than £100 by the end of July!

    Notice the thread title change!

Hi Millejon yes I did notice. It threw me for a second. The extra money is great its like a bonus. And its always there once you no longer need it for cigs. Every now and then I blow it on something eg parts for the computer a day out for me and Mrs Skint. I kept out of pubs when I first stopped now I only use ones that have non smoking sections. Keep it up it does get easier.

one bit of advice is just to relax! the first few days are all hyper because you are telling everyone and you have loads of support but people do forget quickly and by day 4 i was caving a bit. In a way by day 7 i feel part of my mind shut down and i just relaxed! no more nicotine pangs - just plain sailing! 10 weeks on and i am so happy and chilled!

so relax! its so easy! you can do it! you're no different to me!

I just won a copy of the book on Ebay, hope it comes quick, I think this will work for me as I actually want to stop, sounds daft but I used to enjoy it, my dad was diagnosed with c.o.p.d. late last year so Ive been struggling to kick the habit since then.....thats one scary disease.

Can you read the book as qiuck/slow as you need or is there like a program to it?
