I've just had one fag after five days without them.... I found one left in a pack and thought 'stuff it, today was stressful, gonna smoke it'.

My mouth now tastes like a camel's backside and I am really wondering how I ever managed to smoke half a pack a day. No more for me.

I'm with you lot.... heading for the non-smoking world!
Some days, it's just not worth chewing through the leather straps....

Hiya. Well it went OK today. Not great, but OK.

It was really hard walking into work past all the smokers outside the building. I would normally have stopped and smoked and chatted with lots of them, but I didn't.

I was kept busy, but the ciggies were always at the back of my mind.

This was just another hurdle for me. I need to overcome the urge of a habitual smoke (because it's time for a break or I need to think about something). Once I've got over this, I'll only have the pub to deal with!

On a good note, a couple of people I used to always meet up with for a ciggy have given up too. So we can all go for a smoke free break!

Well I'm near the end of day 8, and I'm £33.76 better off!

    Thanks everyone for your support.

I've just been reading this thread and had to say "go on!" millie! Fantastic stuff!

I gave up a few months ago. After a load of false starts, reading the right books, trips to the docs for nicotine supplements - none of which worked! - I just thought, "nah, stuff it. I'd rather buy shoes."

As an incentive, I'd log onto my internet bank every day to pay the amount I'd usually spend on fags onto a credit card debt. It looked mad on my statement, but was such a good feeling!

I've now become one of those hideous ex-smokers who hates it with a passion. But I really believe that both in terms of health and wealth it's the best thing you can ever, ever do.

Keep on keeping on. Good luck.

Thanks Minnie Spender! I love your idea. I wish I had the money to do that. I'll just have to wait until the end of the month and pay a chunk from my overdraft or something.

    I love your signature too!

Well done another day over. Just think next year you won't be able to smoke in pubs or anywhere that serves food. All the people that still smoke will be going nuts. And asking how you done it. Keep it up.

    Heh heh! Thanks millie!

You know, I used to think "I don't have the money to overpay my debts." Then I realised that I DID have the money to spend on fags! Ahem!

Perhaps you could put the cost of a fag into a jar everytime you fancy one? A very visible way of seeing how well you're doing!

Unfortunately it's that horrible time just before pay day, when I'm stretching the money anyway.

I would have been borrowing money by now, to buy my ciggies so that we could live to the end of the month :o

I can't wait to do my budget forecast for July when I get paid. I'm aiming to pay off our overdraft, so any money left in the bank will be great.

Set aside treat money for yourself either monthly or at the end of the year. Work towards it. It won't cost you anything it's money you would of spent on cigs. It will be your reward.

Ditto! I'm resorting to eating the contents of the cupboard until Friday! (Porridge with cocoa powder for tea tonight - surprisingly yummy!)

You're on the right track now though. You'll never look back.
