Can I Cancel my 3 Contract

I took out an 18 month contract with 3 in August but i'm now not happy with it. it's approx £20 a month for pretty much unlimited everything. I got a Nokia E71 which is the best of a bad bunch 3 could offer me but now the phone is playing up and 3 have said that they would have to send it away to repaired. I tried to do a software upgrade but the phone says it has the latest software version.
I've had this happened to me before and i ended up without a working phone with Vodafone a few years back. I just want to get rid of it and go back to O2 i'm worried i'll get lots of hassle with abroken phone

Your in a contract for a mobile service, you can't cancel without paying the reminder of the contract, which would be for you £300. (15 x £20)
I would send the phone back to 3 for a repair, or if you are really unhappy buy a PAYG phone that can accept a 3 sim card. You can't just cancel on a whim, contracts are there to protect both you and them.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies0 -
Have you got a valid reason for NOT wanting it repaired?0

Might also be worth pointing out the phone and phone contract as separate. if the phone was to break, the contract would be unaffected, and thus continue.
It is upto yourself to keep the phone in good order, and for 3/manufacture to keep the phone free of manufacturing defaults. If you are one to damage phones by accident then take out insurance.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
