As for this auction, LOL. I did fine art up to A Level and I'm sorry to say I detest constable's work with a passion (sorry!!) Chocolate box painting at its best.
I agree, I wouldn't give it house room.
Mind you, my own passion is also much maligned and i dare not show my face in some circles as I love the pre raphaelites, I was lucky enough to see the exhibition at the Royal Academy a few years back and the paintings were amazing. . We are so used to seeing reproductions of them everywhere that the scale and depth of the actual work takes you aback.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I agree. This would be my favourite painting, and when I saw it in real life I was transfixed:
every house seemed to have a Conastable, particularly The Hay Wain back in the 70's

When you saw the real one did you get an impression of movement..I was convinced if i stared long enough I would see her float away.
Oh dear, I am taking this rather off topic, naughty Soolin. Is the auction still there I wonder?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. If ever you're in Liverpool, go to Port Sunlight, where the Lady Lever Gallery has a wonderful collection.
My favourite exhibition ever was the huge Burne-Jones in Birmingham (only other venues were New York and Paris) - the tapestries were just extraordinary.0 -

YES!! I think I studied every brush stroke in that, she is so beautiful reproductions don't do her justice.
Shall we get back to topic now lol0 -

A good copy would be worth a fair few quid.
Plenty of decent prints for less than £20 delivered.
The photos are very poor but the close doesn't show any indication that this is oilm it looks flat like a print but just in a pretty frameI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. This is really making me smile though
The original is still in the currier gallery:

As for the copy/print theory, have a good look at this rather large wallpaper of dedham mill:

Note the exact positioning of the signature, then compare with the auction. You can even see the feet of the horse at 1 o'clock in the auction and in exactly the same spot in the real thing.
My other question would be, would a decent copy really have a lump of pine across the back of the frame?0
