Gotta agree, VW et al are cr4p.0 -
There is no requirement that a car is serviced/repaired by the manufacturer's dealer network in order that the manufacturer's warranty remains valid."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

The dealer is talking out of its !!!!. There is no warranty issue with replacing faulty bulbs, and no court in the land would agree with them. A bulb is simply a resistor, and provided you've used the correct wattage there is absolutely no way fitting an incorrect bulb could damage the car.
Headlamp units on nearly all cars are designed so that the bulbs may be replaced by the user. I strongly urge you to go back to the dealer, and kick them up the !!!!.0 -
If you don't get anywhere then contact SEAT head office and explain to them, I'm pretty sure they'll give the dealer a good talking to.

I don't think pursuing Halfords will get you anywhere quickly.:A0 -
I have had dealer problems in the past, but I have found as soon as its in writing to the dealer and stating a copy has been sent to "Head office" (which I have sent also) the ball starts rolling.
I know its not a short term fix, but give it a week and things might start getting sorted.0 -
Under Block Excemption rules, any competant business can service the car without losing the warranty.
IMHO if the a replacement part directly impacted the problem then it wouldn't be covered, for example after market alloys messing up the suspension. However unrelated issues, for example changing brake pads stops the sunroof opening shouldn't be an issue...0 -

You joke, but when i returned my new golf after 3 days of ownership because the handbrake wouldnt hold the car it came back with a defective abs, faulty windows and a radio that would only play cds
it then spent a further 93 days at vw for every problem under to sun until i managed to reject it0 -
I would expect that changing the bulb would invalidate my warranty for the bulb, but since bulbs are a consumable and not covered under warranties, that's not an issue!
The only other reasonable way they could object is if they can show that something else has been damaged in the process of changing the bulb.0 -
How on earth did they know the headlight bulbs had been changed??
I wouldn't offer any information to them for a warranty claim. Any info you supply is a get-out-of-paying excuse.
It is quite normal for Halfords only to supply headlight bulds in pairs, the rationale being that it one has gone, the other is likely to be close to failing too (you can't turn one on without the other).
Over time they will start to fade, so if you only change one, it will appear brighter than the other.0 -
...the Seat main dealer they called me to say that it was a computer malfunction, ...
they couldn't tell me how much longer it would take and estimated another eight hours at £100 per hour. ..,
8 hours to change an ECU? You is so funny... but not as funny as those threads about a skip outside the house of the one about the dealer nicking £2k.
You're slipping ..."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100
