The longer and more random the better. Simply save your random passwords e.g. here in an encrypted file and copy & paste when needed.

Good idea - but not so convenient for the increasing number of websites which ask for randomly positioned characters from your passwrod.

Did you ever use Paypal at work or anywhere but your home PC, and is the home network wireless? People set up fake gateways in hotels and public places...then you come along and give out your details innocently thinking it's a secure access point. None of them should be used for private or secure things.

Don't use PP anywhere that's not 100% your own ...and if you're wireless make sure your network is encrypted properly to avoid people sitting in a car or a flat near you joining in and messing with your internal network. Easy test, if you have an internet capable mobile, search for available access points and see if you show up, and can you use it without entering a code?

    Using Limewire - oh dear

And that Siber stuff looks odd - do you use software to record passwords and automatically fill in forms?

You seem to have two bittorrent downloader - utorrent & Vuse. Vuse isn't especially good and the askupgrade.exe takes a lot of resources

There's the AskBarDis toolbar - yet you don't have Foxit which it normally comes with

Can't spot any firewall and I'm a bit suspicious about yiesrvc.dll

My Paypal account got used by someone to buy some money for one of those virtual games. I never play these and have never even played a trial version. I contacted the site concerned who immediately refunded me and I changed my Paypal password, which was in any case different from my Ebay password, to something much more complicated.

The password which they cracked was a dictionary word, albeit a very obscure one, and two numbers. My son who works in IT for a leading US bank said there are robot programs which run 24 hours to identify usuable passwords for games like this and it was probably a one off. It has not happened since I changed it for something much more obscure and unique to Paypal.

I couldn't find an option for one of these. I am a novice with techie stuff. I can find my way around a computer but that is about it. DH had a look last night and he says we are ok. We have changed the password to hopefully something alot more random.

Fingers crossed we are ok now and paypal don't take too long in putting the money back in.

    Thanks for everyones advice.

if you wouldn't mind that would be great. Can you use avg to do a logfile as that is what we have running. I will prob wait and let dh do it later though so it would be later when I put it on.
