I opened an NS&I one year bond today for £40k . I checked with my local LTSB if it would go through okay, they said there was no reason for it not to !!!!

    Will keep u posted
Lets hope they don't close it whilst LTSB are busy preventing you from getting access to your own money.;)
  • Hope you'r not trying to put a jinx on me here Dizzy :p

I shall give them one chance only, any probs and I will empty my account and transfer into my wifes Halifax account, come to think about it, given your problems I should have done that in the first place !!!!

Got an email from ns&i a few mins after applying, at least they are on the ball. fingers crossed it should be okay though after all the branch assured me there wasn't a limit on debit card transactions....hmm we shall see:eek: :rotfl:

i wonder how multi-millionaires manage their money. I'm sure they don't sit around transferring it from one acccount to another in chunks of less than £20k. Anyone know?

    Chaps......................

And a few days interest on £100k or more than covers the cost :D Not that it applies to me :p. I consider myself lucky enough to be able to transfer tens of thousands around.

Being a Lloyds TSB customer and hearing about increasing Internet fraud I am in one sense quite comforted to experience their checks and transfer limitations and just hope that they have indeed managed to at least frustrate and better actually catch some criminals trying to cash in.

There's a balance to be had between frustrating fraudsters and frustrating your customers.
LTSB's biggest problem is their refusal/inability to communicate basic information (readily available from other banks) to their customers, using security as an excuse.
  • Hi,

Anyone know what the limit is for Nationwide.

I am in the process of opening a NSI bond in the next few days with £25,000 from my Flex Account. Will I Need to ring Nationwide?

Nothing to lose - although there is no guarantee that they will give you the correct answer.

You have a good point, but on the other hand if the rules were set in stone and posted on this board the criminal would have an advantage. Perhaps I am lucky never to have been really inconvenienced by them. Although I was somewhat annoyed when transferring ten thousand pounds I saw a message flagged up that their verification procedure could take up to two days (and leave me a few quid down on lost interest). Fortunately I received a call about an hour later and the payment was cleared for payment that day.
  • Dizzy,

arghhhhhh got an email as you predicted, Lloyds blocked the transfer of funds ....grrrrr
I will go see them today to get it sorted, they have one chance only ..any probs and I will close my account
