Not being sarcastic, just pointing out to you (and others) what they should look for in scam e-mails.

The fact it didn't say "Dear Bargain Basement" is also a dead giveaway, as soolin already pointed out.

On the ebay homepage there are direct links to both a warning about phishing emails, and a tutorial about protecting yourself on ebay.

It is a shame that more newbies don't read those articles. If they did (or in fact ready any newspaper article about phishing mails) then these scammers would have to give up . I think some of us more experienced users forget that just because we see these scams as blindingly obvious that there are people out there who may never have come across them before.

At the top at this site there is also an entire thread about these scamming mails, yet we still get people ask, so despite eveything we do the scammers are still winning. I can't see anyway of stopping scams at this rate.

In a few minutes on BBC 1 breakfast news there is an article about a woman who has lost thousands of pounds though postal scams, they always seem obvious to me as well, so I worry about people who will continue to get caught by them as I can see no way to stop them being scammed.

Most of us like to critiscise eBay, but when I wrote to them with a complaint, I got a response within 12 hours :T
