Anyone have any idea how much I am looking at to get a gas safe engineer to install my new cooker? The gas point is already there (old cooker came out when my boiler was replaced).

Thanks in advance!!

edit: forgot to say I'm in the northamptonshire area

I woulnd't expect you to be charged anymore than £60.00 (thats an upper limit) for a standard installation. It's usually a really simple affair.
  • Cookers these days are normally connected via a flexible lead plugged into a bayonet type connection. The advantage being that you can pull the cooker out for maintenance/cleaning!!
If you already have a bayonet type point I think you can plug it in yourself, but other experts may confirm or deny this.
If you have an old style point and have to call in a gas fitter then it would be best to ask for a modern fitting, then check that your cooker comes with a flexible connector otherwise you will have to buy one.
Costwise I do not think anyone turns up for less than £50 so you are looking at upwards of that.
