Clueless about HD ready TV

First i'd like to appologise, this is probably a really simple question to answer, and i feel a fool by asking it.
I have a HD ready TV with Built in freesat. If i want my tv to show HD channels, i understand that i have to buy extra equipment. If i buy a HD DVD recorder, will that have the technology in built into it, therefore transforming my TV into a HD tv (instead of a HD ready TV)?
Any recommendations on products- ideally i'd like one that could record 2 channels (?dual record?)
Thankyou in advance

I don't think there are many HD DVD recorders with Freesat HD. A quick Google came up with a Panasonic at over £400.

So, your NOT actually receiving any HD content now then? Does that mean your watching freeview and not freesat?:idea:0

Just had a quick look around Google and the Freesat website and I couldn't see any TV with Freesat in built that didn't have the HD tuner.
Can you tell us the make/model of your TV?
Hi Rik - How you doing?Dave. :wave:0 -

yes, your probably correct it is freeview not freesat. Sorry didn't know there was a difference.:money: Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou to everyone who has helped.0

Only way to get HD content at mo, is freesat (BBC HD, ITV HD) Sky HD, Blue-ray or pc connected playing blue-ray rips mkv, AVCD etc
Freeview will have HD content at some point but depends on your area as not all areas have analogue switched off and as yet no freeview HD player0 -
Lube missed out VirginHD, over cable, and also BT Vision, but that's just fancy internet.0

There is a great deal of difference, one is via an aerial, the other is via a dish.
If you only have Freeview, then you will need a satellite dish and a Freesat tuner to get Freesat HD. My recommendation would be the Humax Foxsat HD. If you want PVR recording capabilities, then there is the Humax Foxsat HDR.No free lunch, and no free laptop

:S that's a blu ray recorder.
Good luck finding an HD DVD recorder, they don't even make HDDVDs now.
And it boggles the mind how many people don't connect that Freesat is FREE SATELLITE. The clue is in the name
