DUBLIN DAY OUT ANY TIPS PLEASE :o)

Bewleys is nice inside and the food is good, however it is also expensive, like all things in Dublin. A fry-up breakfast is about 10€ each, and when we were there last year it seemed to be staffed entirely by Spaniards.
There is a previous thread with good advice on Dublin here.0 -
Don't go walking around with a Thierry Henry T-shirt on.0

THANK YOU SO MUCH EVERYONE . I went yesterday and had a great time. The tips you gave me were fantastic and i used a few of them and managed to get by on 45 euro all day with return bus from airport, a bus tour, full irish breakfast which included coffee, one drink in an temple bar (which i sipped for an hour haha) and a lovely meal to end the day oh and not to forget an umbrella because it lashed it down.
One tip for anybody going in future is to go to The Thunder road in temple bar its a very Planet hollywood style resturant with lovely staff. The offer we had was a 2 course meal with glass of wine or bottle of beer or soft drink for e13.95. There was also a 3 course option for e 15.95 which we were going to have but were so stuffed after the HUGE potions they gave us we decided to miss the 3rd course. This offer ran til 7pm and was the best we could find to cater for a variety of tastes and included and drink.
Just a walk round the corner theres q bar which charged 4 euro for a pint it was a bit of a trendy wine bar type of place and was full of locals unlike Temple Bar. My collegues had a few drinks but not being a larger or beer drinker I decided to opt for Cola at around 2 euro.
THANK YOU MSER'S:beer::beer: Thanks to everybody who posts the competitions. :beer:0 -

We were in Dublin on a ryanair special at the weekend. It was €5.50 for a pint anywhere in the city! €8 for 20 cigarettes. We found it very expensive but good fun!
I think it must have come down I was in Kildare a couple of weeks ago and paid 3europ for a pint. Guinees is brewed down about a half a mile from Templebar, they will give you a complementary drink there free if you visit the place.
Enjoy your day out.:cool:0 -
The epicurean food hall ( http://www.epicureanfoodhall.com/ ) is worth a look for an informal, reasonably priced lunch. It's behind arnotts, just off O'Connell Street. Boojum (http://boojummex.com/dublin.html) is also in the same sort of area and is great casual mexican food.0

If you have a few hours to spare try and visit Kilmainham Gaol its reasonably priced and you can get there on the bus.
One of the best attractions in Dublin in my opinion.0 -
I second kilmainham gaol too, very poignant history behind the place, and also has the benefits (?) of being in several well known films.0

This.
A very under-mentioned attraction in Dublin. The tour guides in particular are excellent.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
If you head up towards Grafton Street, past Temple Bar area, you will pass the statue of Molly Malone - for some this is a draw for the photo opportunity! But if you want to tie everything in together, at the airport tourism office you can buy a day card which includes bus, and entrance into the attractions, such as Kilmainham, Guinness factory, Jamesons distillery (free Jameson's if you're not keen on Guinness
) and they give you other options too. I think it costs about 30-40 euro, but seeing as you could easily spend 10 euro on bus to and from the city centre and airport, and say 20 euro for one entrance ticket it is well worth the money IMO. It also covers the sight seeing bus if I remember correctly too.
I last went to Dublin in September for the All Ireland Final - if sports are your thing then perhaps look at what is on at Croke Park/Aviva Stadium, and found the prices to have come down - pints of Bulmers were circa 5 euro in the centre, which is not much more than £4, and similar for spirit and mixer (bear in mind over there you are likely to be offered a can of mixer so it would last for 2 drinks) so really not much different to city centre prices.0
