carlsberggal - big big hugs honey. Dont forget you are getting used to the idea so it will all seem a bit surreal for a bit. I know it isnt how you imagined it to be but that doesnt mean it cant be great. It sounds like you are an amazing Mum. We are always here for you to offload to.
ETA I also wanted to second what piggers said about the extended family, you mustnt worryabout what they think, even if you dont want to rock the boat/upset them/cause arguments etc etc you ve to be strong and think of your DD firstly and of course yourself. There will always be someone disapproving but sod them. Dont let them grind you down ((((hugs))))
There but for the Grace of God sprung to mind when I read that - some people are quick to talk and point, conveniently forgetting that they could have ended up in that situation!
Wilf's advice, and the comments of other is sound - thinking of you Carlsberggran
(And as Piggers said there are lots of much worse things...)
and ouch ouch ouch Soappie - hope you're fine soon - maybe a stiff letter to suggest they put up a mind the step notice?Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

Thanks hun - mind you, thinking about it, that's the three things - the nose on Saturday, the arm and the ankle today..... and I'm usually sooo robust!
I was just going to say, that's your three things soappie
pointless 'staff development' afternoon today, I could've done with the time in the office to get on with my long list of stuff to do, but never mind! It did mean I was home earlier than usual and so we've eaten and DH (who has been off sick today) has washed up. Once he's finished I am going to throw a spag bol together for tomorrow evening's dinner so it can cook nice and slowly this evening.
Not going to manage much flying tonight as DH is not studying so we're going to chill together and get an early night (he was up sneezing etc between 4 and 6am so both shattered!). I will, however, put the clean washing away and have a bath! bins need to go out too.Mum to gorgeous baby boy born Sept 2010:j0 -
The ankle is now nicely swollen, strapped up and an ice pack is currently applied. It's also hurting more and bruising is beginning to come out.
I can sympathise  Just don't do what I've done and hope it'll go away if you ignore it. Advice from my physio is to sit with it up and iced for 10 minutes a day. Also to do stretches  and ankle circles. You may need to sleep with it up.
If it can take your weight (stand on one leg to find out), then you just need to try to keep it stable. Is it your right or left ankle, and do you have a manual or automatic. Trust me, driving doesn't help
All kitchen surfaces now spotless, as is the long window and window sill and all the tiles. Freegle stuff collected. Lets hope I get a few more takers!
Sounds like the washing has finished... best get it in the dryer and get the next lot on  I'll keep going in the kitchen until the woodstove bloke gets here...0 -

Thanks for that Greenbee - yes it can take my weight but it's not happy about it. It's the left ankle (clutch pedal) but as I'm also catching the bus to this place (far cheaper than paying exhorbitant town centre car parking fees) that shouldn't present a problem over the next few days whilst it heals.
I'll piggy back off the advice of your physio and ice it for 10 minutes for the next couple of days. I have now finished the ice thing (as it was melting!) and have strapped it up really firmly with a crepe bandage rather than the tubi grip which was on there earlier because I need to make my dinner. I was just thinking a few minutes ago, I wish my Mum was here and could make it for me.... Oh dear - that black dog's turned up. I need to go shoo it away...I am the leading lady in the movie of my life

Poor Soappie, how bloomin grotty for you. I think you did amazing well to get yourself home! Take a great big cuddle from Gordon, and I hope he makes you feel better. ((((hugs))))
Hi Everyone, :hello: and welcome to all the lovely newbies
My house is just this side of manageable!
I'm so tired from work, and dealing with stupid stuff that I shouldn't have to... I've even considered leaving, but I love the actual job so much... it's just the toxic environment that's the problem. I'm not giving in yet though!!!
Anyway, I had a good day today pottering around, and even made rice krispie cakes for the children. I completely forgot that DD2's friend was coming for tea, but fortunately I was making curry, so plenty to go round.
Toots (((hugs)))) How's that blasted tube now?????
Carlsberg (((hugs))) as ever wonderful flylady advice.MMSSB Club Founder Member

ETA - whatever you do DO NOT try to kick the dog...
Bandage is definitely best. Also try arnica for the bruising, and take a good book to bed as you may not sleep well. Use the stick on the bus, as much as anything it'll make people more careful about you, and hopefully they'll make sure you get a seat too. And get your DD to do the cooking for a bit, as you need to avoid standing up.
I've developed CBA... kitchen is half done but I opened the door to the utility room and felt overwhelmed by the mess0 -
Pen Pen - thank you for the stick for BB - is that to beat her with or to throw for her? :rotfl:
Greenbee - the tip about the stick and the bus is a top one thankyou! DD is out tonight so I need to fend for myself but it does feel better strapped up with crepe rather than tubi grip
Black dog firmly chased away. I am now cooking - with gas naturally!I am the leading lady in the movie of my life
