Good luck Speedy and I agree that if you are in it until 2015 (me too, it's a good year ) that you have to balance paying off debt and living a little, after all you can't get the time back! Cutting right back on everything isn't for everyone. I just can't do it (also helps that I don't have to and I'm very lucky to be able to choose), so we'll just be in debt longer and pay some extra interest, the main thing is to accept things have got out of hand and start to live within the available means.0

I boost my income from selling on ebay and doing bootsales, also these online consumer panels have earnt me money via paypal.
Could you boost yr income with selling on ebay? i have recently sold some cd's at a bootsale. I loaded them onto my computer b4 but tbh i dont need them anymore so made over £160 from selling them.
I have lots of books and plan to sell them at next years bootsales.
In 8 months I've made over £3,000. worth doing.
Good luck with paying off your debt's.0 -
I would suggest staying in more and making own entertainment, don't drink at home except for maybe a glass or 2 on the weekend, stop eating out...thats a good saving for a start. As and aside I don't think it matters what you earn if you live up to and over your limit, I mean you earn more than 4 x as much as us but your mortgage is 4x higher as are your gas/elec/phone/mobile bills.....all relative. I am reading a book at the moment about someone who lived on a £1 a day for a year...now theres a challenge!0

I do this too. I have done mystery shopping in the past and got free meals out via that, done bootsales on and off for years and years, bit of ebay and sell the odd book on green metropolis, if you like books there is a good site called readitswapit.....does what it says on tin, you 'swop' a book so only costs postage...excellent idea! Would be good if they had a similar thing for CDs!MileySmiley wrote: »I boost my income from selling on ebay and doing bootsales, also these online consumer panels have earnt me money via paypal.

Seriously Speedy you must be clever to earn that kind of money, I am sure you will be out of debt in five years. Do have a look at old style re food tho - they are amazingly creative with it all!
All the best and welcome to the forum!

Have you looked at Martin's breakdown cover article? We swapped to autoaid and it costs around £37 per year for my OH and I to get the same level of cover in the UK as we used to spend around £200 on with the AA.
Autoaid works as it is like an insurance scheme and if you break down you pay then reclaim the costs. With your income I assume you will have a fairly reliable car, so not need to use your breakdown cover extensively and be able to meet the short term cost of a breakdown for a week or two until Autoaid refund you.
If you prefer not to have to pay out he still has cheaper options than the nearly £15 a month you appear to be spending.
