*sigh* you do realise you can delete your own posts right? If it's the starting post in a thread then you can edit the post to remove any text to say lines of ************************************************************ instead of text :) Job done.

Except that if someone's quoted you, you cant delete that.

A user should have the right to have all their material removed from this site if they so choose.

I've moderated forums before and very occasionally users insisted all threads they started and any post of theirs are deleted, we had no choice but to comply.
  • Does it matter?

I note you only joined 3 days ago and one post got deleted and now your other post is just a rant, no one is forcing you to join you can just as easily leave as well

If you had no choice but to comply then you need to review your terms and conditions of use.

agreed, forum i moderate on has a 1 hour edit limit
after that its locked from user edit
we only delete when a user gives a good reason
even if they edit/delete before the hour we have the edit log
we brought in the 1 hour limit as you would get flame wars and then users would delete all the posts and next day you had no idea who caused what(pre edit log)

As per the terms & conditions that the user agreed to abide by when they created their user account:
    7. Your content
7.1 Just so that you know, you own any copyright in the text that you post to our chat forums. However, when you post text, you expressly grant us a perpetual, unlimited free license to republish that text on our site and to redistribute/make available and/or sell that text in print or electronic form anywhere in the world as part of an edited compilation or otherwise.

If the user doesn't agree, they shouldn't have joined ... and certainly shouldn't have posted.
