Post Office credit card, accepted [no bt fee]

Just thought I'd post my experience of applying for the PO credit card. It took about 10 mins, should of been 5 but I wanted to do a BT and forgot my existing CC's sort code and collection number....

It's only the 3rd card I've ever applied for and was surprised to be told at time of application I was approved, rather than having to wait. It even told me my credit limit which was 3.7k as opposed to my current NW CC of 1.2k

No BT fee with this card, 6 months 0% BT/purchases and I got my £13 through quidco.

Does anyone know how long quidco transactions take to appear online?

Pleased so far.

    Nice one.

I applied a week or so ago online. I got no decision at the end and had a few problems with the online application form (kept putting in the wrong bank name and adr when I entered the sort-code).

Last week, I got the credit agreement to sign and a letter asking me to send in passport, bank statements, payslips and a utility bill. I took copies and originals to the PO on Saturday and had them certified, so I'm playing the waiting game now.

The only time I've had to produce so much documentation is for a mortgage! It's the first credit card I've ever had to provide 'supporting' documentation for.

Thanks for the tip - have a load on a Sainsburys card that has built up over the last year at 0%. Was starting panic as there's not too many fees free cards around at the moment (apart from the charity ones but having read some of the posts they are a right pain with people being charged transfer fees). Although Post Office is only 6 months, its still worth it. Thanks for the tip about Quidco as well.

    Lee -

I had the same bug with regard to auto displaying bank names in the form. It has two search buttons for banks and it will not let you choose two different credit organisations i.e. one for DDs and the other for BT CC. I just let it display the incorrect bank name because they have the correct sort numbers, DD account and CC collection numbers.

Strange though ... you would have thought they test the application forms for things like that.

Yep, it's very shoddy :D I did the same as you. Even worse, they must be aware of the error because when the pre-printed forms came, it left out the bank name and adr but had the account number and sort code on.

I also emailed them about the problem and had no reply.

Did you need to photocopy all that documentation in the end? Just wondering as you mentioned the PO certifying your stuff - so I guess you didnt need to post it all off.

I like the idea of not having to run around photocopying everything and then having to wait ages for them to review it at some remote location. It would be smile bank all over again. They took ages and i just pulled the plug on them and went with a high street bank!

Sorry, that's me not making myself clear. Yes, I did have to photocopy everything. I took it to the PO and got a blank look off the lady. She called her supervisor who thankfully knew something about it.

They went through the documents comparing the copies with the originals and stamped each copy which were then enclosed with the credit agreement and sent off through the post.

The only options were to either photocopy all the stuff and have it certified as an 'original copy' at the PO or post the originals (yeah right).

To be honest, if I've realised I would have to do all that, I would never have applied in the first place, but as I had, I thought I may as well complete the process.

With this card, I take it you can apply on the net? Is so, do you get a decision straight away? And maybe indication of credit limit as well? Or is it the usual 'thanks for your application, you will here further details in so long...
