How much does Christmas cost you?

Well I said I'd spend around £300 and probably still will, but opened a tin where I had been saving the odd £10/£20 every other week since early October and counted it...£350 is in there and I have already spent £50 so about a hundred left over.
Not sure whether to buy more presents or treat myself!0 -
Princesswoo - I have a 12 yo boy (step-son who lives with his mum), 11yo girl, 8yo boy and 3 yo boy. Step-son gets a lot from his mum's side (They ain't poor!) but bless him he really does appreciate that we can't afford a lot and is always happy with what he gets. DD is a bit harder to please but likewise appreciates the situation.
We are always open and honest with them...they know "Santa's" skint but also know that Santa will bring them something they need, will like and will use! and also know that the most important gift at christmas is giving love and appreciating what you have got...not what you haven't!

I normally spend about £1000 on my 4 children, I haven't added it up this year but it is a lot less - not only because they have less but I have really been looking for the bargains this year!
I don't have any other family to buy for.Slimming World - 3 stone 8 1/2lbs in 7 months and now at target :j0 -

 Ooops................just gone over budget on teenage grandson!!!!!!!!!!! Couldn't resist it for him........he loves Michael McIntyre and I've just ordered the latest DVD - we both had such a laugh at him on the tele last year and no-one else liked him so it seemed to be a 'must buy'...........then felt really bad that I hadn't spent more on his twin sister. I ordered one of those Pashmina things from the Grabbit board a while back..........it's purple and I'll never wear it...........only got it because I knew I'd be able to give it to someone.............she's 17............is it the sort of thing that age group might wear ? She's really into fashionable stuff, it's purple which she loves -didn't cost as much as the dvd for her brother but it is brand new................(they both know I do the charity shops for everything and don't mind a bit. They live with their mum and her family seem to be able to afford the earth........they know we can't and are never bothered about it.
So, shall I give grandaughter this Pashmina thing ?
I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

OMG you have to shop for, buy, cart home, wrap & delivery 40 prezzies:eek::eek::eek:
Thats a lot of work.
I have DH & DD.
My mum, my mother & father in-law:D
I will get my mum & M-i-l something soft & comfortable to wear around the house, probably M&S velour lounge suits (minus hoodies:rotfl:).
DH wants to get his DD a Jamie Oliver cookbook, so he too can discover the magic of JO:D
DH wants £££ towards his skyHD box for the bedroom from me & DD.
DD hasn't made her mind up yet:rolleyes:
Easy:D:D:D:D:D:D:D
ETA I spend double (so £220 instead of £110) on shopping for my xmas shop, despite having bought a couple of bits every week in the couple of months leading up to xmas.
I will get a boned & rolled turkey breast from my local butchers, last year this only cost me about £30. One half the size in M&S is £25 (& too damn small to be an use for xmas).0 -
I am spending roughly the same amount this year as I did last year, like some other posters my friends & I agree not to do xmas presents as it's too expensive.
OH - £45
Mum - £30
Sister - £25
Brother - £25
OH Sister - £25
OH Dad - £25
Altogether £175 on presents and I'll probably spend somewhere between £50 -£100 on xmas food and drink.
I do spend more on birthdays when I can afford it, but we're all grown up and enjoy the food, drink and watching all the soaps on tv more than the pressies :cool:0
